Z Excellence Posted February 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 21, 2007 I,m thinking about putting in some sylvania silver star sealed beamed headlights on my1976 280Z. I still have the original headlights on it and the deer are getting too close before I see them! Does the headlight harness upgrade that VB sells still give you control of your headlights on the stock controlsON/ OFF Hi low beam? I called them and they said they would get back to me. It looks very similiar to the ones that were selling on this site. Thanks. Arne Posted February 21, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 21, 2007 You may have to build it yourself if you want it right. Dave's custom harnesses only fit on 240Zs, the 280Zs have different connectors. And here is a thread that points out that the kit from VB (now Black Dragon) doesn't fit either.http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18141 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/23366-headlight-harness-upgrade/#findComment-200015 Share on other sites

It can be done and is a good upgrade to save your wiring system. GreenZZZ Posted March 31, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 31, 2007 My headlights got progressively better with each mod this week.1) Combo switch rebuild (amazing jump in light output)2) Dave's wiring harness (even better)3) Turbo ZX Alternator (brighter still)4) Sylvania Silver Star Headlights (bright yellow to bright white)At this point the visibility is on par with a new car.My motor started running smoother after the alternator upgrade. Must be better spark somehow. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/23366-headlight-harness-upgrade/#findComment-204224 Share on other sites
Zs-ondabrain Posted April 9, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 9, 2007 Maybe I should ring in at this particular time. I CAN make a harness for your Z but There is 2 ways to go about it. 1)Hard wire, which requires you to cut off your white, round headlight plugs and hardwire my harness into yours.2)Cut off the headlight plugs from a donor car and send them to me with all the needed measurements (I'll get into that later if you email or PM me) and I'll build you a plug and play harness that requires NO cutting of YOUR haenss or system. The 280Z harness requires a lot more Labor and supplies to build so the price is $150 but you won't be sorry when it comes to the results of the harness.Your fusebox and combo switch will thank you. You'll get NO sympathy from ANYONE here if you use the VB/Black Dragon after we've warned you.Hope this helps a little,Dave.
