When I had my gages out, I used Brasso on the lenses and now they look crystal clear, like new! It took several treatments because the lenses were pretty worn.

I've used Brasso on all my exterior lenses and they look pretty darn good also. Basically I've used it on anything plastic and it's always worked.

There are a number of products that will clean up plastic but I've always had success with the Brasso so I've never changed to anything else.

I tried Brasso on my 10-year old Polycarbonate headlight lenses, and it seems to have helped, but only a little. Walmart has a kit with some polish & a tool you use with the drill to polish newer headlamps.

Brasso is hard to find, so IMO, you should buy two if you find some.

A couple thoughts

to try some CD cleaner, since as I understand it, that stuff gets into the scratches and blends it away. Could be wrong, and if I am, then you have some stuff to repair your scratched CDs.

How about stuff for cleaning plastic glasses-check at LensCrafters or any other glasses shop.

I've been getting great results using Finesse-it 2 made by 3M (05982). It is a finishing compound used for machine wheeling paint, but I use it to bring back the luster on plastic by hand polishing. You can remove imperfections and scratches first by wet sanding, graduating up to 1500 grit before polishing.

I have had fantastic results with the Meguiar's MIRROR GLAZE . It says for clear plastic but I have found it is great on the taillights and turn signals as well. They have three levels of cleaner , and it depends on the damage . On my gauges I used the mildest two, but with the exterior lenses I used all three. Gary
