i just purchased a z 2 days ago and its not too bad and i found out there is no such thing as rust free i will post pictures of it within the next couple of days and you guys tell me if its good or bad choice. the rust ithink that its not too bad floor boards are good the frame rail behind the motor mounts thats where the rust begins other then that its a good solid car and it doesnt have a center console its a 1975 280z the engine is intact the prev owner said it was the dizzy. it doesnt have one of the rear drums. i thought that i rather replace things like that then replace floor boards and frame rails even though i still dont know how bad that rust is i still think its not too bad for 6bills.

Good for you! I hope it was well bought car, though for 600, it would be hard to go wrong. Since you are already missing part of your rear brakes, perhaps you might consider upgrading the rear drums to the ZX rear discs.

If you can, get the car up on a lift and start taking pictures of those rails and floorboards.

Take out the battery, and shoot some pics of the tray/firewall area, as this is prone to rust. Also, pull up the carpets to check for rust there as well.

And that's just for startersLOL

Anyway, congratulations are in order, and welcome to fray.

Welcome aboard, jpuga. Hold off for a good one, as the selection in yoyr area is very good - you can afford to be a bit picky. And take the advice of hls30.com by posting some pictures of the ones you look at.

the z i purchased for 6bills is in good shape its missing the center console and the charcoal cannister and its got a bad dizzy and is missing the radiator hoses im going to strip the interior and get the insulating tar like stuff out and check for rust even though it looks good who knows what is hiding there the frame rails underneath the car are exellent and the rails under the battery tray have only surface rust which i kind of expected it to be really bad its not i got a wire brush and attached it to my drill and it was all coming off. the only thing is it was starting to rust inside the cowl area and i have no idea how im going to fix that. thank you all for all of your help.
