He was a driver , then turned to be a mechanic. I saw so many S20 engines, 71A transmissions, R192 diffs, etc etc . I found S20- 000001 ! ! And also he keeps the last S20 engine , 002722 !! Even more, special works engine, parts , prototype engine, etc etc .. Kats Nissan Sports/Race Option exhaust manifold! Just like mine. Hand made! The S20 became so much smooth, and sounds beautiful. I met Mr. Mouri , his green car was built by Mr.Watanabe , 250 bhp and FRP body panels all around . And it’s got real rally magnesium wheels !! It is daily shoes for his car , yes the car is his daily driver. Oh, and you see the valve cover , that is made of magnesium too. Kats Stock water pump delete! Love the 'Orange Box', and the Magnesium valve cover must be a Works item. kats Posted May 11, 2018 Author Share #1036 Posted May 11, 2018 Hi moelk , you nailed it ! Maybe an aerodynamics policy ? Alan , you have everything ! ! The electric water pump is totally unique for me, Mr. Watanabe really likes “ less weight , more power “ for everything. Hi Lumens, I did not realize that, I was wondering what the huge threaded hole is for . I checked service manuals , ( 1st NOV 1969 for export , NOV 1969 and OCT 1971 for Fairlady Zs) there is a Nissalco ? stand , the difference is an adapter for each type of engine. And you will be surprised, Fairlady Z manual is omitting description of disassembly and assembly for L -6 engine , it says “ because it is the same as L16 engine, omitting description “ Kats Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/23900-datsun-240z-vs-fairlady-z432/?page=87#findComment-549654 Share on other sites
kats Posted May 23, 2018 Author Share #1040 Posted May 23, 2018 Yesterday I replaced a heater hose of my Z432 , it was deteriorated. The Inlet hose for heater is much more stressful than outlet hose, especially S20 engine creates high RPM , and circulation of water is very good , it means water runs very fast. And During the operation I broke a heater control mechanism. I had to disassemble the heater control facia , I added my work road by myself! I was so glad that the control mechanism trouble was only a steel wire , it was going wrong as it pushed so hard that the wire’s 90 degrees corner could not stop hold the lever. I fixed the wire , and pulled all the wires from their plastic tubes to lubricate . And I put a drop of oil on the every pivot and contact of the mechanism. Now levers move nicely, no effort for selecting positions. I was lucky I did this maintenance before breaking the mechanism and plastic control facia . Gav240z Posted June 1, 2018 Share #1042 Posted June 1, 2018 Hey Kats, Did you see these?https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u200514512 380,000 yen or so.. They were in rough shape and Alan believes they may have been made by Rose Auto many years ago? I bid on this 1, up to around $320 USD before I pulled the plug. I just wasn't sure it was a the real deal, since it didn't have the yellow/red sweep hand (for redline). https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f270209928 I found this site here: http://acqua-garage.com/NISSAN/Meter/index.html But I'm not sure if they are offering to recreate these gauges or not? (maybe you sent me this link already?) 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/23900-datsun-240z-vs-fairlady-z432/?page=87#findComment-550171 Share on other sites
Gav240z Posted June 1, 2018 Share #1043 Posted June 1, 2018 By the way some time ago I found these in NZ. As you can see they look in very poor shape now. https://goo.gl/photos/aQrBgmbt9P5P9d8P9 I believe they were fitted to HS30 00920 when sold new in NZ. https://photos.app.goo.gl/rKcoZRxRSrwK2B9G3 Must have been a NZ Datsun dealer that managed to swing those optional wheels their way on import. It's the only NZ new car I've seen with them. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/23900-datsun-240z-vs-fairlady-z432/?page=87#findComment-550172 Share on other sites

What would you even do with a wheel that the entire lip is gone? Is there anyone that rebuilds these wheels? It seems they could be worth the time and effort... 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/23900-datsun-240z-vs-fairlady-z432/?page=87#findComment-550206 Share on other sites
