Yes, but 7 psi is too much pressure for the carbs. I installed a regulator close to the under-hood inspection light.

Remove the manual pump and put a blanking plate over the hole. I had a 280Z motor in the 240Z so I didnt have this issue though.

I mounted the pump back by the fuel tank. Wish I hadn't as it was EXTREMELY LOUD at idle.

hmm....i got a fuel pump from a 280z and i wanted to know to instal this can i still keep my stock fuel lines? im gouing to use an l28 with this set up and would the psi be fine?
Not with carbs, no. WAY too much pressure. Most carbs like 5 psi or so. The factory fuel injection pumps do about 35 psi. They'll over-flow a carb's float bowl in no time.

Any electric fuel pump should have a reg & return line.ANY fuel pump from a FI car will have wayyyyyyyyy too much pressure.And if you're going to electric,there is no need for the manual pump.Not only there is no need,should the diaphram rupture in the manual pump,the electric will fill your crankcase with fuel.

Holley would not be my choice for a pump.In fact it would be somewhere around the bottom of the list.

I just know that they are noisy, I have been running a RX-7 pump used for carburated cars. they provide plenty of flow and 5 PSI. are quiet as well. Mounted near the tank with a in line filter before the pump. Have even tried them on a stroker with triple mikuni's, and they supplied them with no problem . I haven't had any problem with my SUs using this pump for 6 years. Gary $15.00 at the u-pull-it

I have an electric fuel pump on my '73. I had to disconnect it, electrically, and leave it in place. I could hear it over my stereo. It was way too loud. It was the one that was originally installed by the dealer. The carbs have since been replaced with the SU's so it is not necessary any further. The mechanical one works just fine for me

You can use the 240Z fuel return system even if switching to an electric pump. The underhood piping is essentially the same except for bypassing the mechanical pump on the cylinder head. A longer piece of fuel line from the stock fuel filter on the inner fender to the fuel rail above the alternator. The return lines to the tank don't change at all.

I've heard the Mallory pumps are good and quiet. But Beandip's RX-7 pump retrofit is a very common swap.
