280ZManiac Posted June 6, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 6, 2007 Hey all,I just purchased a 1977 280z. The car runs but it looks like a monkey wired it. The previous owner must of been an idiot. The major problem I have is a lack of windshield wipers and horn. I need both of these to pass state inspection to put my Z on the road. When I got the car the previous owner had replaced the ignition switch with a brand new OEM unit and the wiring harness under the steering wheel was exposed. The seems to be no loose wires but then again I honestly do not know what I am looking at. Any ideas where I might go to start debugging these problems. The other major electrically issue I have it all my gauges with the exception of my Speedo do not work. The volt meter does when I turn the ignition to on but the read charge light stays on all the time and apparently it has been because the area aright he light in the volt meter looks charred/bubbled up from the heat of the light? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/24513-electrical-idiot/ Share on other sites
