travelingtarget Posted June 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2007 I have a 74 260 with an 83 L28 engine, triple phh44 mikunis, automatic and air. It's an old man's car and I have it close to running but I need to take it to a mechanic to do a little fine tuning on the mikunis. It's about a five mile trip with a tow bar. My question is: Do I have to drop the drive shaft for this distance? I'll be back with more questions later.Ravin Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/24619-ravin-has-a-newby-question/ Share on other sites
ChrisA Posted June 16, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2007 You risk damage to the transmission towing it....BUT if you're only going five miles and you don't go over 20-25 MPH, it'll probably handle that. Much luck, Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/24619-ravin-has-a-newby-question/#findComment-212369 Share on other sites
=Enigma= Posted June 16, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 16, 2007 I though I read somewhere that the towing speed for autos was even less than 20 mph and only for a few as in 2-3 miles but I can;t find that info now. Whatever you do, don't forget to take it out of park......:stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/24619-ravin-has-a-newby-question/#findComment-212398 Share on other sites
