26th-Z Posted July 14, 2007 Share #5 Posted July 14, 2007 If you do a search on this site for headlight covers, there have been discussions complete with part numbers and so-forth. I bought a set - new in box - in 2005 for $500 which was top of the price range at the time. In 2006, I bought a set of reproductions, nice reproductions but lacking the harware, for $350. I believe the supply of repros has been exhausted. I saw a set of real ones on eBay last week for $600 and wonder if this is the set you bought. Good price IMO. I believe the S30 was intended to have the covers as part of the design, but I am aware the headlight covers were not legal in the US at the time which is why we could not get them other than buying them over the parts counter. rexz Posted July 14, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted July 14, 2007 zhead240, ya there the jdm style still in the boxes with hardware and instructions. this set was purchased privately from a older z owner in san diego. i was driving buy his house and noticed his series 1 z in the garage we started talking and i noticed the light covers on a shelf. he had a set on his 70z, he remembered paying somthing like 85 dollars for them in the late 70's. Actually on ebay right now there is the aluminum ring with no bids and lessthan 2 days left. rex Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/24884-jdm-head-light-covers/#findComment-215083 Share on other sites

Mr Camouflage Posted July 15, 2007 Share #8 Posted July 15, 2007 Actually on ebay right now there is the aluminum ring with no bids and lessthan 2 days left. rexThe seller is mistaken. They are not made of aluminum. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/24884-jdm-head-light-covers/#findComment-215132 Share on other sites

The Wingnut Posted July 16, 2007 Share #10 Posted July 16, 2007 Are the vintage JDM covers the only source for the chrome trim rings? I've been looking for a vendor for a while. I'd like the covers, but I'd want them with the rings.$600. Wow...congrats rex, but man, that's way out of my price range. Go240Zags Posted July 16, 2007 Share #11 Posted July 16, 2007 The "aluminum" rims on eBay sold for the $140 starting bid w/ one bidder. I was tempted but house and flood insurance due next month and I need to watch my pennies. I have a passenger cover with chrome trim, but not the driver's side. If I bid on those t/rims I'd still be missing one cover. EScanlon Posted July 16, 2007 Share #12 Posted July 16, 2007 I considered bidding...until I looked at the seller's numbers and rating. All 7 of his points are from being a buyer and he has one negative against him (8 total positives, 1 negative)....in Japan.Granted that was 3 years ago. But now he's a seller. Supposedly out of Gardena California.Shipping isn't mentioned and he posts his e-mail address as being at Hotmail. To top it all off he specifies a check or money order for payment.Hmmmm..... I'll pass for now. I may lose out on a bargain, or maybe not get my butt kicked by a rip-off. Not saying that he IS illegit, just that there are too many spots on his record to not consider a leopard.2¢E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/24884-jdm-head-light-covers/#findComment-215236 Share on other sites
