door reinforcements

Can anyone tell me how far below the curve in the door (just above the door handle) the door reinforcement goes across? and how far down it extends. I have some door dings that I'd like to have the paintless dent removal guy take out but if they are behind the reinforcement he wont be able.

On my 2/71 there is a single bar about midway down. Look up by between the hinges and you'll see two phillips head bolts. These hold the front part of said bar. The bar is about 2-1/2-3" wide.

Depends, earlier cars will have a smaller reinforcement. 73 Spec cars and later have something akin to a guardrail inside the door, but you can get behind it... difficult but not impossible to do with a thin spoon and some of the longer paintless dent removal devices.

The bar runs to the lower pair of screws of the door catch.

It is some distance from the outer door skin, ~25mm, so it's not as if it contacts anything apart from the mounts at the front and rear panels.

The very top of the door has a double panel that may cause you grief.

It extends down from the window slit by about 70mm but the lower edge is still ~10mm from the outer skin.

It has some Nissan chewing gum here and there to bond the lower edge to the outer skin.

Guess where my door is dented:cry:
