Hey everyone. I have ben lurking for a few weeks and checking out this fantastic site. My name is Dan and am from Lancaster PA by way of Brooklyn NY. Big friggin' difference there I'll tell ya what. Anyway, when I was about 9, there was this girl that lived on my street in Bklyn, and she was like 25 and I thought she was Venus incarnate. I had a major crush on her. Anyway, she drove this powder blue or sky blue 240 or 260, I don't know which, I was 9 like I said. So, all my impressionable life I was left with the opinion that the Z was the hottest car this side of the universe. I used to think I liked the Z for her, now I realize I only liked her for her Z! At any rate, I finally got me one of these bad boys. It is in decent shape, runs and drives well. needs some minor TLC, has great paint, good interior, has some minor (I hope) electrical issues. (I know minor and electrical don't go in the same sentence, but I am being optimistic) The car is not at the moment road worthy, it sat for an extended period and has dry rot on the tires, who knows what the brake lines and or pads, rotors, drums are like. We did start it up (thank you ether) and it has a nice throaty rumble with what almost sounds like an erratic cam, but is in fact stock. It is a 1970 240 born on 5/1970. I still dont know too much about the Z's, but the guy I am getting it from says it has the "East Coast" emmisions package?? Something to do with California being more strict, (even back then) and getting a leaner car, then they decided just to make them all Cali acceptable? I dont know. Anyone? Also, he said the valve cover is somewhat unique in that it says nissan 2400 OHC and later ones just say Nissan OHC? I will try to post the pics now. Anyway, I am so stoked to be one of you now. I can't wait to drive her. t_=96022186

hope that works. peace out, dan

dankehoe1, you can include reduced size photos right in your post, using the go advanced post option and choosing manage attachments. It has an option to upload photos. They'll appear in your post as clickable thumbnails that will enlarge in a new window or tab when clicked. This saves time waiting for photo approval like when you are putting something in your gallery. You might give it a try with a few of your photos so we can get an idea of what the car looks like.

Looks to be in pretty good shape and one of the earlier ones. What's your VIN? The '240Z guys' can probably give more accurate info than I, but you car has all the signs of the early cars. The 2400 valve cover and 'OIL' cap, the '240Z' pillar emblems, etc. And it doesn't appear to have defroster lines on the hatch window. Now, this is not a criticism but the first thing I would do is lose those 15" 'Swastika' wheels. Just my personal preference as I don't care for ZX wheels on an S30.

Actually, it does have defroster lines on the rear hatch. Unfortunately, the defroster is not currently operational. :( I agree with you on the wheels. While I do not intend to do a full original resto on her, I am at odds with the 280 wheels on the 240. I am fairly certain the guy said he still has the original wheels. Also, although not seen in the pics, the steering wheel is off a 280ZX and he has the original one of those as well. The car is in fact in really good cond structurally. There are a few paint pops, and some superficial rust. The rockers were cut out and replaced, and the passenger door exterior sheet metal has sprung loose from the inner door frame, but I am thinking some epoxy and a couple of spring clamps should remedy that unless anyone has a better suggestion. I dont know if I mentioned the price, but it's 2K USD. I think that's an absurdly good price don't you?

That's a great price for a fairly low VIN 240Z! I couldn't see the defroster lines in the pictures. I once owned HLS3000488 which was a 12/69 build date if I recall correctly and it didn't have the defroster (or 'demister' as Datsun calls it). 5/70 should put you somewere in the 03900-04600 range or so.

You lucky Cat you, Nice looking Z fo Sho ^_^

Is that smoke coming out your tailpipe, you should

replace that with a Flame Thrower kit :) j/k

If you do any mods try and keep 'em where you can put it back to stock if need be.

The swaztika wheels I think look cool on your green 240Z but the right side

rims face forward and the left side are backwards.

What is with that?

Even new cars today have rims that face the wrong derection on one side,

Could they not make a set which face forwards on both sides of a car?

Heh, or you can powder coat 'em Black and have a Black on Green

color scheme :rambo:

~Z~

Hmm, I hadn't noticed the forward/rearward facing rims. Good eye. I was thinking about a flame thrower, I think I settled on a hood mounted laser cannon though. Seriously though, that is smoke, the car sat for about a year, the gas is ancient, and some of that smoke is probably from a squirrel. LOL
