rtaylor Posted May 7, 2008 Share #25 Posted May 7, 2008 Bob: on my 71 I just unplugged the red wire on the ignition switch, no more annoying sounds. Don't know if its the same on a 77 though. Bonzi Lon Posted October 31, 2008 Share #27 Posted October 31, 2008 When I purchased #110 in August the PO had put a key in the ignition and one in the hatch lock so they 'wouldn't get lost', and handed me one that he had found in the house. When I was going through the glove box last week I ran across the left foot rest pad. It didn't feel quite right so I turned it over and there was another key was hiding in the back. Just barely fit.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/25355-hide-a-key/?page=3#findComment-264963 Share on other sites

7277 Posted November 2, 2008 Share #29 Posted November 2, 2008 Funny story, I was removing a lot of the stuff on the exterior of my car to get it ready for a paint job and while removing the rear bumper I noticed there was a Hide-a-Key stuck on the inside. Much to my delight I opened it up to reveal one of the original keys.SAME thing happened to me during my resto. found a magnetic box inside the front bumper..voila! an original that worked!!the PO i bought it from owned the car for 20years (!) and only gave me the one original he had...he didn't even know about the one in the bumper Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/25355-hide-a-key/?page=3#findComment-265161 Share on other sites
Unkle Posted November 2, 2008 Share #30 Posted November 2, 2008 I can '' decode '' any worn key , use my ITL code cutting machine , and give the customer a new ''factory fresh'' , nice key with sharp ''square'' cuts. The key will now work perfectly , and won't pull out in the incorrect position . No more ''wiggling'' or cursing ! You will wonder why you waited so long...
