I am pleased to have found this site, it seems like a great site with helpful folks. Thanks for being here.

I bought my 280Z new in 1978, one of the last because the 280ZX was showing up at dealers and I didn't like the new look.

I have been the only mechanic to work on the car other than some oil changes, 212,000 miles now. Everything has been opened, inspected, replaced, or rebuilt except the 5 speed manual transmission. The body is good and the car is basically stock.

I do have the the driveline clunk again, not sure if it is the transmission mount again.... I need to look into that. Otherwise the car is mechanically solid. The body is great too, having rust proofed it with oil many times, and kept it off the road during winter in recent years.

I am about to do some cosmetic work on the interior. New dash cover, etc.

I am off to use the search function to see if someone has retrofitted the stock driver's seat with a power seat from another car. I'd like to have power seat base for up/down, forward/back, and tilt.

I look forward to learning things here and perhaps sharing some of what I have learned about this neat little car.

Thanks,

Curtis

Welcome Curtis..I am a new user on here too...I am STILL waiting for my '77 Z to arrive..it is on a truck right now and according to the website, looks like it will be hunkering down in Billings, MT for the evening. I have about 10 more days before it arrives..it was an Ebay sale and I am hoping the car comes as described. It is meant to be a "mild project" so I am looking forward to playing with it.

Curtis and Mark, welcome to you both!

As I'm sure you have discovered, there is so much information here that you will wonder how you managed before!

Please do post photos, and don't forget the "search" feature for those late nights in the garage when you just can't figure that one little thing out (that becomes two little things that becomes three little things that...)

Thank you David for the warm welcome and advice. I have hit that search about 100 times already looking at a myriad of things.

My Z is in South Dakota right now according to the carrier website...its coming from Oregon and will end up here in Cincinnati, 2600 miles later.

I am getting anxious and want to do certain things and have been holding off on the desire to start ordering stuff. According to the PO, it needs the seats reupholstered and a good paint job...and the clock works intermittently..other than that, it is claimed to be solid and a good runner.

I plan on doing the bulk of the work, including paint, myself...I will post pics as I go.

Thanks again

Curtis, welcome aboard from a left coast Original Owner. This IS a great site with at lot of very helpful and knowledgeable folks.

This recent thread (http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=27804) has a post describing installing seats from a '92 300ZX. As those are power seats (driver side only, though) this looks right up your alley.

Have fun! --Bob
