I've lurked for a time and figured maybe I could help out a few folks by answer questions about the various swaps out there.

I currently own a '75 280z. I bought it from an idiot kid who ran the car into the ground and the car's next stop was the crusher. I fixed the various issues and drove it for a time in its stock form. However, I became bored and soon I swapped in a mild SBC 383 stroker. A broken valve spring allowed a valve to drop and killed my poor SBC within a year. Quickly I decided to swap in something rarely done in the fashion I wished to do. Big Block Chevrolet power. I am not stranger to SBC, but BBC's are my bread & butter. Long story short, too many people told me it wasn't possible without a tube chassis, aftermarket front suspension, tubbed rear end, etc. I got lots of laughs with my plan.....who's laughing now.

Thanks guys.

With all that torque, how do keep the car from twisting around that rat motor!

Awesome job man, and I know I'd sure appreciate some of the details of the swap!

The car handles the torque pretty well, although I do hear it creaking and moaning under WOT.

The 454 is just your average warmed over rebuild. Large solid cam, 10:1 compression, ported big valve heads, etc.

The tranny is a beefed up TH350 w/3000 ATI stall converter and Trans-Go shift kit.

The stock gauges were swapped out in favor of Auto Meter Sport Comp units:
