Hello,

I am Jeff Mader. I own 2 Z's - 1980 280ZX (white 30K miles) and a 1981 280ZX Turbo (silver 67K miles). The 1981 is currently up for sale (posted on this website). I have been a Z owner since the 1980's. I live in Sudbury, MA.

Question - I think I'm getting scamed. Someone has responded to my classified (jm.crabown@yahoo.ca) and he claims he wants to buy it but it doesn't seem real. Does this happen a lot on this site??

This happens on every website.

Just be careful, ask questions from a buyer, never take a check for more than the amount of the sale, and tell them you accept cash only (in person) if you don't feel comfortable.

Basic rule of thumb....if you think it's fishy, it is.

For your own protection, and not necessarily from the members here, don't post your e-mail address openly as well as your physical address. You're just inviting someone with bad intent to "mess" with you.

As far as the offer to buy, it may be legit and it may be bogus. Which is a subject of various threads on the site.

As a general rule, all of the following stink like rotten fish:

1) agreeing to pay your price but not knowing what it is you are selling "I am interested in the item you have for sale. I am willing to pay your asking price. Please reply with details and pictures of the item you are selling."

2) Overpaying with a cashier's or certified check that will be mailed to you and asking you to give the excess to an "agent" who will stop by to pick up the car and "ship" it to it's final destination.

FWIW

Hey, Sorry guys but i invaded your bulletin board.

With good reason.

After receiving 3800 dollars in phoney postal money orders i went immediatly to the post office and turned them in.

The reason i found this post was because i googled the email address that was used when they sent me the offer. And that was the same exact email that contacted you.

Do not proceed with this. Be very aware. Make sure your name doesnt end up on the (from) section of a money order either.
