No , seriously , '' I have went to college '' tells us you really should take a second look and stay in school of some sort . The video game reference struck a nerve no doubt , but as stated was not intended to flame you until now . LOL . It really sounds like you didn't get it , and now you are backing off on the two hundred mile an hour thing . Sigh:disappoin . Anyway, good luck to you . I started with a GTO , tri power carbs , and lots of tickets , so who am I to give any advice , right ?

Im not totally backing out of the 200 mph I just thought about dieing and changed my mind to settling with 190 or something. but I am going to school on how to work on cars through hopfully this forum LOL. And yes im going back just i really want a break. 12 straight years +1 of hardcore college is gay at my age. I started to early at everything. 4 at kindergarden youngest in my class to year 12 and then went straight to college 17. So yea Im saving money for a bad car and a education down the road. I got plenty of life to spare.

Do you really think your chances of surviving a wreck in a 30+ year old Z at 190 are better than at 200? You have no idea how naive you are.

I'm going to make a suggestion that both of us may regret: spend some time on ogrish.com. I've only been there once and found it revolting. You'll see pictures of accidents that happened with safer cars at much slower speeds. They are horrific. But it is reality and I think you could use a dose right now.

I really hope you can scale your expectations back to something safer and more achievable.

PS. Sorry for the lecture - I'm sure it's not what you want to hear - but I have a daughter close to your age and can't stop the "dad in me" from coming out.

Remember, and no matter how much tries to defend it, he's 19. We were all once 19. Only so much of what is 'right' as stated by older, more experienced people is going to sink in. Age and time are the best teacher. I do, however, find myself looking back to the things that older people told me when I was younger and thinking to myself, 'you know, they were right'. Dream on, DtP1337, you're entitled to that, just try to give some credence to the quote/unquote 'wisdom' that some of us old farts will try to impart upon you. We were your age once and we'd like to see you reach ours.

Well said, Stephen. I'm just pleased now that I look back on it that I didn't have much money to throw around back when I was young. If I had the money then to do the things I thought would be fun, I may not have survived...

I take in everything my elders tell me and I know that the safety rating for the 280z are kinda low but I've always been into classics and i tend to dream and make it come true. I dreamed that i would one day go to college in middle school and i did it. Just i burned out on it too fast i guess. But i am serious about fixing this particular car up. I've had many opinions and I think i've decided on either a stock 280zx turbo or a 300z turbo. All i need to do now is find a good price on one of the two engines and get started. After i buy the car im gonna work up on the wheels, mirrors and exhaust first off since visually they are the only things that would make the car whole again. After that I plan on sinking as much money as possible under the hood and into some seats. After I have the engine in clean working condition Ill start working with the smaller things because the 4-speed transmission looks feels and shifts very well and i dont think ill need a new one for a good while. any other opinions that I might need to work on please do inform.

Dylan,

If man didn't dream and strive to make the dreams come true, We'd still be wearing animal skins, dragging our women around by their hair towards the home cave.

There's nothing wrong with having dreams. The trick is to set priorities and stick to them and not to get your posibilities mixed up with your probabilities.

Dream on son, ... dream on, but please make them SAFE dreams.

Rick.
