Montezuma Posted December 12, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 12, 2007 Most of your answers rest on whether or not there are any rust problems on the frame rails, battery area, floor boards. etc.... It looks okay in the pics, but the pictures don't address the rust question. xray Posted December 12, 2007 Share #6 Posted December 12, 2007 (a) it's Never too far gone...just too expensive to repair. ( worth restoring...for financial gain? No way. For fun--depends on your definition of "fun." That would cost 30k to bring it up to a high quality restoration, based on the number of hours of bodywork I see in that car's future. Unless you can DIY. © If it doesn't run....$500 If it does run... $750 (with bonus value for being East Coast) I say pass. Better candidates abound at the 4-6k range, unless you just love taking on big projects for the fun of it. PS...sad to see that my car's twin was not so well taken care of (5/72 build) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/26491-ok-guys-what-do-you-think/#findComment-231190 Share on other sites
Sailor Bob Posted December 12, 2007 Share #7 Posted December 12, 2007 Saw one last week in Rochester for $769 - complete, not running, only floor pans gone - original paint, still had original hubcaps. By the time I got around to bidding - 2 hours later - it was sold. There are good deals left out there. Be patient, keep looking. 59blane Posted December 13, 2007 Share #8 Posted December 13, 2007 I agree, better deals are out there. But of course it depends on how much they want for it and how much time and money you're willing and able to put into it.I got extremely lucky when I found my Z. I had only been looking a couple weeks and stumbled across an early 74 260 for $500. The kid I bought it from had let it run out of oil and the engine was frozen (I was actually able to get it running after I got it towed home). The body needs minor work, mostly door dings. The interior looks like new, except for the driver's seat and 2 cracks in the center console. The carpet is beautiful and the dash is perfect. 2 small spots of surface rust near the battery that just require sanding, that's it. It's almost completely original. And from what I can tell, the car was bought and never left the Sacramento area. So,there are deals out there if you're patient enough. lonetreesteve Posted December 13, 2007 Share #10 Posted December 13, 2007 If you have room for it, don't pay more than $500.00 for it and use it as a parts car. Then buy another one from Arizona or California. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/26491-ok-guys-what-do-you-think/#findComment-231249 Share on other sites
