240ZX Posted January 24, 2008 Share #13 Posted January 24, 2008 Welcome aboard Roger! Information abounds in our site's archives. Accessing it is just a matter of a simple search with a question. Beyond that, most all on this site will be glad to help you out with whatever issue you incounter. Regarding the restoration process......Certainly make a plan of what you want as an end result, figure in your budget (it usually winds up being more than you planned), and of course do plenty of research before begining. Anything you may want to do has likely been done before and the info is here or possibly on the HybridZ site....if you are thinking of an engine transplant or are into race car set-ups. Anyway, keep us posted on your progress.Tom Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/26597-howdy/?page=2#findComment-235194 Share on other sites

AggieZ Posted February 13, 2008 Author Share #15 Posted February 13, 2008 OK... last post without pictures and I will start a completely new thread for my restoration. That said.... I'm very excited Barring any defects in the structure of the car I dont know about..... its gonna be exactly what I want. 300 lbs of extra steel on the '73? yeah thats good for what I want. beandip Posted February 13, 2008 Share #16 Posted February 13, 2008 Welcome to the Club. It's exciting to starting the project. One thing I didn't do and wished I had. Is to pressure wash the engine and under the car before I started. I had thought of almost everything else. I recommend taking lots of pictures as you disassemble and reassemble the Z. I started with a film camera , and finally bought a digital. If you don't have Wick Hubble's book Restoring your 240 Z , it will be a good source of info for you. And a supply of PB Blaster and better yet Kroil . Great for removing rusted bolts. A container of anti seize for when you are reassembling the car. All the best . a7dz Posted February 13, 2008 Share #17 Posted February 13, 2008 Welcome to the club. I agree with Gary pressure wash the whole car every where you can reach. Not having the dirt and crud fall into your eyes is so nice. Not to mention being able to see all the parts. Wish my car was in that kind of condition when I started.
