five&dime Posted February 28, 2008 Share #25 Posted February 28, 2008 Well done!!!! So glad you got resolution. That only happens like .001% of the time. After reading through this thread, I think you all will hate my pops (Diseazd) if you find out how much he paid for two brand new (NOS) in the package Nissan door panels. I will let him chime in to tell the story if he wants Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/26751-bad-ebay-experience-w-door-panels/?page=3#findComment-238886 Share on other sites
Diseazd Posted February 28, 2008 Share #26 Posted February 28, 2008 I was looking for a front clip at a junk yard in Virginia Beach. After buying the clip, I asked the guy if he had any more Z parts. He reached up in the attic of his outdoor shed and pulled out 2 OEM new door panels. He wanted $100 a piece. I offered $75 and he took it. Miracles still happen! yor5150 Posted February 28, 2008 Share #28 Posted February 28, 2008 If you remember I had a problem with some door panels I bought about 1-1/2 months ago on eBay.I filed a dispute w/ Pay Pal and yesterday they ruled in my favor. Seller agreed to refund my money upon reciept of the door panels. I'm out about $30 for shipping, but that's OK. Happy ending! Also, I purchased another set of panels from the seller in Canada. Very nice reproductions with chrome strip that appear to fit fine...I'm very happy to hear that things turned out in your favor. I recently saw an eBay ad for a parts lot that included a non-emissions air cleaner. First the disclaimer: I have nothing negative to say about the seller or eBay.With that said... I didn't feel the picture of the air cleaner was good enough for me to bid more than $20~$40 so I asked for more information and better pics. 1st Message: Do you have more pics of the air cleaner? Both sides, close-up? Is there any rust on it? ThanksResponse to 1st Message: No rust, but there is a small dent on the top.2nd Message: Please provide better pictures of the air cleaner. Thank youResponse to 2nd Message: Sorry, I will not have time before the auction ends. As I mentioned there is one small dent on the top edge on thecleaner.By then the bidding was closing in on $100. There was no way I was going to bid that much without close-ups of the air cleaner. I probably wouldn't have bid that much because of the dent. I didn't care about any of the other pieces. Someone apparently did because the lot sold for $158.16.I hope the buyer was savvy enough to ask about the condition of the air cleaner because I don't see the dent mentioned in the ad.I feel I dodged a bullet... that would have gone right through my wallet!eBay Motors_ Huge Datsun 240z Part Lot Air cleaner Seat Belts...pdf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/26751-bad-ebay-experience-w-door-panels/?page=3#findComment-238891 Share on other sites

yor5150 Posted February 28, 2008 Share #30 Posted February 28, 2008 That pile of stuff sold for $158.00...wow...I am sitting on a gold mine then."Stuff" is too kind a word as far as the other bits and pieces besides the air cleaner are concerned - IMHO. I believe that a non-emissions air cleaner in good condition would be worth $150 but again, that is just my opinion. EScanlon Posted February 28, 2008 Share #33 Posted February 28, 2008 ...snip...I recently saw an eBay ad for a parts lot that included a non-emissions air cleaner. ...snip...I hope the buyer was savvy enough to ask about the condition of the air cleaner because I don't see the dent mentioned in the ad.I feel I dodged a bullet... that would have gone right through my wallet! While you were ONLY looking at the air breather, (and it is an EARLY style, one without the smog and the flapper valve for Summer/Winter) you completely missed the very early and hard to find "Aircraft" style Seat Belts. Those ALONE in good condition, as these appear to be, were worth the $150+ and then add for Shipping. The other items: 2 Fuel Pumps, Oil Pressure Sender, Door Latch, Turn Signal Light Housing, and the 2 Headlight Acorns...you could maybe sell for $5 to $15 each. The other two items are not clear enough for me to tell what they are, they appear to be some form of bracket to attach to the motor block, so I won't hazard a guess. All in all, you would have had a very early style air breather AND a pair of early "Aircraft" style Seat Belts for about $100 after selling the other parts. But that's my opinion, yours may vary.EP.S.
