Zs-ondabrain Posted February 16, 2008 Share #13 Posted February 16, 2008 That's too damn funny. I used to have that EXACT 7167 tape deck in my 78' 510 Hatchback. I LOVED that deck. I also had 2 pioneer 4" 2-ways zip tied under the dash and 2 6x9"s in the old 6x9 wedge boxs. Then I stepped up to Carver Amps and processors cause my mom used to work on the Car audio line at Carver. So I got a new amp or DSP every holiday. Then my buddy sold me a pair of Aluma Pro subs and they kicked butt back then. Then I bumped up to a 15" Klipsch concert sub, THAT WAS AWESOME!!!Anyways, now-a-days, I have a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/XM tuner deck, a 4-ch Coustic to run the 2) Alpine 6-1/2" 2-way kick panel speakers in custom pods, 2) Kicker 400A 4" 2-ways in the doors, and the 2) pioneer slim style 5-1/4" 2-ways in the stock rear locations. Then I have a Coustic 400SE 2-ch amp for the 2) 10" subs in the new fiberglass spare tire well enclosure. Not to mention the HLH, PLH, ZXP, LED taillights and LED sidemarkers, power windows, power door locks, full alarm w/ keyless entry, H4 90/100 bulbs, Driving lights (55 watt), LED dome lights and Cold Cathode bulbs under the dash. The list still goes on but you get the idea.Dave.See ya on Monday Jon.Dave. Pop's Z Posted February 16, 2008 Share #14 Posted February 16, 2008 Hi Arne, Yeah, I hooked that up first, but because I did not want the antenna up when listening to the tape player, I went with the buttons for more control options. I could never figure out how to keep the antenna down when the tape deck was on. JonnyRock Posted February 20, 2008 Author Share #15 Posted February 20, 2008 So Dave and I spent a marathon 12 hour install session. And we almost got it all finished. Problem was, I hadn't received my amp (**** Circuit City btw), so there's still that. Once it's all in, I'll have pictures up. As it is, I know it's gonna be sweet. But anyway, I have some pieces I may be looking to get rid of, and need to know if anyone is interested in them. 1: I have a perfectly good "Remanufactured for Datsun" 45A Alternator. It's obviously not original, but does have a metal tag affixed that says it was made for Datsun. There's also a nice brass-looking aftermarket external regulator. Looks brand new. 2: A cherry pair of CIBIE E-Code H4 headlights with working 55/60w bulbs. They've had plastic covers over the lenses while they were on the car, so they're in perfect condition. 3: An ALPINE 7167 cassette deck. It's 100% complete, and in excellent condition. It's circa late 70's, early 80's I believe. Those that don't have pictures will be added tomorrow. Arne Posted February 21, 2008 Share #16 Posted February 21, 2008 Hi Arne' date=' Yeah, I hooked that up first, but because I did not want the antenna up when listening to the tape player, I went with the buttons for more control options. I could never figure out how to keep the antenna down when the tape deck was on. Mike[/quote']I no longer own any tapes, just CDs. So that's not a problem for me. I bought it for the FM. While I liked the look of the factory signal-seeking AM radio, AM radio itself sucks... JonnyRock Posted February 21, 2008 Author Share #18 Posted February 21, 2008 Fine Dave. Here they are. New door speakers. Had to run new wire, and increase speaker hole from 4" to 5" to fit. New 6x9"s in hatch panel. Dave doing his thing, installing tweeters in the kick panels. _______________________________________________ Alternator - Remanufactured for Datsun. Zs-ondabrain Posted February 21, 2008 Share #19 Posted February 21, 2008 I promise that there are more pictures of the back of my head then the front. Actually, I was tearing out the kick panel and removing the old wiring in that picture. but I like the idea that I was doing something constructive, rather than desctructive. hehehe.I had fun working on your Z Jon, it's in pretty damn nice shape and definately has some of the "odd" early Z items. Gotta fix that roof before summer though, you'll want it working on the hot days.See ya on Friday, can't wait to finally hear everything working.Dave. ktm Posted February 28, 2008 Share #22 Posted February 28, 2008 Why did you cut the doors instead of making MDF mounts in the kick panel. JonnyRock Posted February 28, 2008 Author Share #23 Posted February 28, 2008 Why did you cut the doors instead of making MDF mounts in the kick panel. The doors were pre-cut by the PO. JonnyRock Posted March 6, 2008 Author Share #24 Posted March 6, 2008 Finally got the new Sony unit cleanly installed. The lower edge of the stock trim piece was broken by th PO, so Dave had to fab up a new lower panel out of ABS plastic. Came out really nice, and with some convincing, the whole stereo sits very well now. Once again, Dave is a miracle worker. Get yourself an HLH, PLH, LED tailights, and everything else that he offers. You won't be sorry! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27052-electrical-overhaul-stereo-lights-etc/?page=2#findComment-239745 Share on other sites
