it's a 1972 datsun 240z. L28 motor with triple makunis/ITB's/webbers or whatever you want to call it.. holly fuel pump, msd ignition, and custom widebody on champagne gold... he gave me a good deal so planning to sell my ef because catches too much attention... i was working on one of the carb today because it was jammed but got it fixed. it might need rebuilding i'm not sure... it has been sitting since 03 so i just got it started today but it's been backfiring, might be one of the carbs or timing... the jets on one of the carbs might be bad or something.. my plan on this is prolly to either use the same motor and rebuild it for squeeze. either i do that or swap the motor and throw a 280zx-t motor and convert to fuel injection and boost the $^!# out of it.. LOL ... not sure yet... i just want it running first...

L28ET... turbo is the only way to go today... Paint and body look great - but as mentioned it certainly needs attention under the hood.. Only you know what type of suspension work it will need... or not... but if you upgrade the hp you'll want to upgrade the brakes for sure.

good luck,

Carl B.

thanks for the comments.... my brother bought this at an auction years ago and it was running perfectly... until he didn't have time to drive it because of work and such so once he tried to fire it up a couple years back it wasn't running as good anymore... i think it's one of the carb... not sure... it's a 5 speed. yeah the engine looks terrible since it's been sitting a couple years and his old place had rats so they would make a home in there...i'm just now starting to clean the engine bay and everything. i'm not liking the suspension right now since it's sitting on Eibach springs and looks like they have some type of spacers... so wack... it's very soft so maybe that's why they added the spacers... i want to get new stiffer springs, what do you guys prefer? i didn't even drive this car yet... how much hp you think it even has?

Here's pic of what i've done so far. cleaned it. did an oil change, cleaned the carbs, took the battery to autozone to get it charged (optima takes the whole day to charge). cleaned up the wires, trying to get the tachometer to work. tomorrow I'm going to bleed the slave cylinder, bleed the brakes and maybe throw some paint on the valve cover... we'll see...

Not my cup of tea, but the she looks solid until you get under the hood. Then I'm not sure if she's just dirty or needs work. For swaps and more intricate engine mod's you may want to check out hybridz.

i agree.. i say you should restore it back to its native form. :cheeky:

But thats just me.

I could use mikuni's

I do not recall ever seeing an intake manifold like that.... from the pictures it looks as if the carb's feed directly into the intake ports.... I can't see that as being good for a car driven on the street.... Also did not see any heat shielding between the carb.'s and exhaust header...

I think I'd be looking for a long runner Cannon Intake....

Have the valve cover glass bead blasted.... it will look like new..

FWIW,

Carl B.
