thanks for the comments... the only heatshield it has for the carbs are some thin plate of metal that goes under the carbs and seems like they added some type of thermal wrap under the shield and that shield bolts on to the itg filter which i'm trying to replace...

Actually, I disagree with that completely. If you want orignal, sell this and buy original. There is value in a body in seemingly good shape (assuming no massive rot underneath). Realize that value and move on. If not, get this puppy up and running and have some fun.

well, today I tried cleaning the engine bay a little more, cleaned up the wires a bit, and took it on a test drive... seriously, my honda feels like a 400hp car compared to this slowpoke... LOL ... it was dog slow... so new powerplant is the first priority...

valve cover bolts were rusty so i threw it on the wire wheel and came out just like new!

Depending how heavy that body kit is, a 1972 body (light) with a well-tuned L28 with dialed-in Mikuni's shouldn't feel "dog slow". I guess is also depends on what Honda you are comparing it to...NSX?

I agree,

May be something else besides power plant, that tripple Mikuni should be Flying.

Figure for instance the Cat who owned it before your brother, sold it because

of something not disclaimed in the auction making it "slow".

From here it looks fine but is the clutch slipping or any unsual

sounds hinting of something wrong or strange during you test drive,

anything minor at all?

It may also be a good idea to see what your cam specs are, i.e. stock or

performance specs.

If that owner did all this work with the Mikunis but didn't upgrade the

cam to the proper Duration and Lift needed for all that Tri Carb Air then that

could throw some things off IMHO.

Sounds crazy I know but then again I wouldn't of thought that some one would

rebuild a Fuel Injected 280Z L28 N42 engine block and

N47 cylinder head, (paint it and all that), back to brand new condition only to

reassemble it using a 240Z gasket kit which is for carborated Z's :dead:

Basicaly that (my) engine needs to be rebuilt again,

and thats how I got it from my previous owner unbeknowest to me:surprised

That engine problem also Codded, (killed), the clutch.

So some times it's that "one" "thing" which can throw off the whole ride.

Other than that cam idea I'm glad to see you making such quick progress!

yeah... i mean it does backfire and my brother said maybe one of the carb is bad because when you rev up to like 2/3k it starts backfiring but when you past that, it's fine... yeah, the makuni's were dial-tuned when i saw the papers in the glove compartment but it's been tampered with already... i'm pretty sure my bro messed with it and everything... and i have a turbo'd civic hatch btw... and trust me, my hatch is way faster....

But your Z is much more classy (I have nothing against Hondas, BTW).

yeah.. and i don't have anything against Z's... i know when tuned right and with the right mods it's way faster than most of the hondas on the street. i mean if any car is damn near stock, it's gonna be slow. if it wasn't for forced induction for my honda, it'll be just another grocery getter/commuter car with less than 100hp at the flywheel... LOL

i have a question, as you can see my bro has a 280Z in the background but he lost the title... i looked at the motor and it said l28 block with a n47 head? so did someone swapped head and bump the compression up or something? can i take the head and bolt it on my l26 block? or do i have to do that eyebrowing the block or piston whatever?
