240ZGL Posted March 4, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 4, 2008 I just got in the under carb tray from http://www.zccjdm.com and I have to say this is top notch. This setup is with a Cannon manifold and the pan fit perfect with Dellortos, which have the under body accelerator pump arms. On top of that I have the Datsun comp header, which fits great but the last 4 tubes do extend out a bit far making it tough to get any kind of clearance from the bottom of the carbs. I"m not sure if the short manifold will work yet but I will try it out this weekend. Here's a pic. Zs-ondabrain Posted March 4, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 4, 2008 Looks great on there. I've been considering doing the same thing to mine. Heat is most likely an issue with mine but like that site says, 44, 47, 50mm carbs. Mine are 40DCOE Webers. Are the carb bodies that much different from 40 to 44? I think I'll have my custom metal guy take a look at it. Nice, very nice. Dave. Lazeum Posted March 4, 2008 Share #3 Posted March 4, 2008 It looks great! How do you assemble it? Is it clamped in between the head and the carbs? What happens if heat is too important? Do you experience some lack of power? I haven't experienced it yet. I have Weber 40 DCOE and coated headers. Lazeum Posted March 5, 2008 Share #5 Posted March 5, 2008 I found this item but it's not for 40 DCOE, only for bigger oneshttp://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcarbum/dt46915/pd944882/DRIP_PANS_SIDEDRAFT_CARBS._INTAKE_TRIPLES._SOLEX_WEBER_OER_ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27248-triple-setup-owners/#findComment-239477 Share on other sites
240ZGL Posted March 5, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted March 5, 2008 It fit's 40's, that's what I have. It's held to the bottom mount studs on the carbs Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27248-triple-setup-owners/#findComment-239479 Share on other sites
gnosez Posted March 5, 2008 Share #7 Posted March 5, 2008 At $165. for a piece of metal that has a small lip and a few holes, all I can say is, no thanks. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27248-triple-setup-owners/#findComment-239486 Share on other sites
Zs-ondabrain Posted March 5, 2008 Share #8 Posted March 5, 2008 I thought about that as well but I like most would be more likely make my own, or find a better price, or weigh the price versus the benefit.Luckily, I have "A Guy" that makes this sort of thing. I truthfully believe that every manufacturer should have a competitor. If my guy can make them cheaper, I'll have him make a few and start taking orders. If he can make them for $40 or $50 each, I'll sell them for enough profit to cover my going back and forth to him and the post office and my time. I'm thinking $80 plus shipping (most likely under $10 in the Lower 48.Let me know what ya think.Dave. 240ZGL Posted March 5, 2008 Author Share #9 Posted March 5, 2008 Ya, the price did go up since I bought mine, perhaps he will see this post and decide it's better to sell more at a lower price. I will say that the quality is top notch. I'm looking at that G-nose kit and hope it will not continue to go up in price. Finding one person to pay a tall price is not as easy as finding 10 people that will buy at a lower price. Part of my evil plan :devious: just trying to keep the makers and suppliers honest. Lazeum Posted March 5, 2008 Share #11 Posted March 5, 2008 I think $165 is very pricey too. I don't know if there's a lot of R&D into this piece. If the part is not dsigned correctly if it will rattle. The design he's made looks stiff enough to avoid rattling... Zs-ondabrain, if you're going to make some for cheap. I might be in for one Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27248-triple-setup-owners/#findComment-239555 Share on other sites
Zs-ondabrain Posted March 5, 2008 Share #12 Posted March 5, 2008 I actually have a material in mind, It's an aluminum Alloy that is very strong and ridgid. Which should minimize movement or chattering on the bottom side of the Carbs or Headers. I'll bring it up with my Metal fab guy and see what he thinks. Lately I've been doing trade work with him. His fleet of vehicles all need stereo's so he proposed me doing the instals in trade for the metal work he's doing for me now.I'll post when I hear something.Dave.
