RP975 Posted March 6, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2008 Hi Guys,I have searched and have found differing answers to the original S30 wheel offset, some say -15, some say +15 and others say 0 offset.I have a 1974 260Z with dealer fitted slot mags that are 14' x 6" with 0 offset. When I look at the Datsun workshop manual for a US 280Z, it states that the offset is 15, but it doesn't say if it is + or -.Does anyone know what the standard offset is, or can somebody with a standard wheel measure the backspace and width for me please?Cheers Rob Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27286-original-s30-wheel-offset/ Share on other sites
Arne Posted March 6, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2008 Definitely +15 on the factory steel wheels. There's more backspace than 'frontspace'. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27286-original-s30-wheel-offset/#findComment-239762 Share on other sites
d240zx2 Posted March 7, 2008 Share #3 Posted March 7, 2008 There may be a difference between 240s and other S30s. My 70 requires Zero offset, else an expensive alignment is called for.Frank Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27286-original-s30-wheel-offset/#findComment-239777 Share on other sites
Arne Posted March 7, 2008 Share #4 Posted March 7, 2008 No, we're talking the factory steel wheels here. Wider mag wheels are a totally different kettle of fish. RP975 Posted March 8, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted March 8, 2008 Thanks guys for your input with this, now I can work out what I am going to do about wheels.I have a ford 5 stud pattern now and want to find some 16x7" mags.I can only increase the track by 25mm, and the front hubs that I have have already taken up 9mm each side.I am in NSW , Australia and the rules are fairly strict for mods.Rob Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27286-original-s30-wheel-offset/#findComment-239907 Share on other sites
bpilati Posted March 8, 2008 Share #6 Posted March 8, 2008 A guy at MSA said that they finally got Nissan to admit that the figure in the service manual is in error and should read zero. That's what my new Konigs are too. So Arne, you're saying that zero is wrong? Arne Posted March 8, 2008 Share #7 Posted March 8, 2008 Yup. Zero only applies for wheels that are wider than stock. Measure the backspace of your stock steel wheel. For a 4.5" wheel ('70-72) the backspace will be in the neighborhood of 3.25-3.35". For a 5" ('73-78) it will be around 3.625". Those are not zero offset. midship909 Posted April 2, 2008 Share #8 Posted April 2, 2008 what's a good width and offset for a 77 so the wheel is flush with the fender or a lil past the fender Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27286-original-s30-wheel-offset/#findComment-242749 Share on other sites
