Again, I am looking to buy within the next year or so, and trying to find GOOD Z is tough. The best places I have found so far are on THIS website for quality used Z's. My question is this:

What is the best place to shop for a high quality used Z. Ebay is circumspect, and Hemmings, has very few choices. I figure the best way to find a good quality Z is to ask around here. Any opinions?

I am looking to spend between 8k and 13k on a car that can be driven and enjoyed for a few years, and that does not need a frame off restoration. Basically I want a car that I can upgrade and restore because I want to, not because it needs it.

I would like to take a high quality car and make it great. I do not plan on a show car restoration, but rather a restoration with updates.

Like I said, so far the classifieds section on this website is rich with for sale examples. But I have found some of the best cars in my life through word of mouth. I am waiting for somebody who knows these cars to know about one for sale, that is worth driving out to see.

Just testing the waters, I will actually be ready to buy in as little as 6 months.

It took me 4 years to find the one I wanted (Almost no rust, with only Datsun/Nissan parts with original interior)

I found it on zcar.com but it was also on ebay.

I would look also for local ads, newspapers.

Z car can belong to elder people who don't use internet ;)

randy always keeps high end z cars.

sometimes he will sell some to make room for more.

he just sold a 1,410 mile 1982 280zx turbo 5-speed and a 9k mile 1984 50th 300zx both on ebay. he also has a lot of the vintage 240 z's that pierre restored for nna.

For sale: A beautiful 1972 Datsun 240Z. ALL ORIGINAL (except the

radio and tires). ONE OWNER and only 89,000 miles. This orange Z

has been in the bay area it entire life and always garaged. The

motor purrs and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Feels

like it just left the dealership. There are not many Z’s left and very few that are this original and unmodified. When you drive it, you’ll be impressed. If your interested, i can send some pics.

Price: $8.000

Thanks so much, but I am looking for a MT. The search will continue. Time and patience will persevere.

I have been paying close attention to who is selling what. Eventually somebody here like Code3z will know somebody who is selling the perfect Z car for me.

The manual trans swap would be a breeze!!!

Most of the time the auto cars are much cheaper than manuals. For the cost savings, you could get the master cylinder, driveshaft and a 5 speed and still have money left over.

Not too mention autos are abused less than the manuals
