car won't start... after I got gas

Recommended Posts

ESPECIALLY that head temp sensor. the car will never start if that thing's wonky.

checking spark is easy. pull out the plug and set it on somthing like your fender or the valve cover, crank it and see if it has a nice blue crackling spark.

Well, I don't like to check spark that way. I know people do that and talk about doing that but there is a risk. Not so much when you have point ignition but when you have electric ignition it just takes one spike/surge to blow the IC unit. I use and inline spark checker.

time to bust out the good ole manual... I have no clue what the EFI electrical connections are... I know there is an EFI relay. Well, down to about 6 hours... don't think this is gonna happen. Anyone in Denton Texas by chance? that would be amazing!

well, called into work... checked a few things using my Auto Repair Manual... car still won't start. Looks like I am gonna have to tow it to a shop. I bet it is something really simple, but I don't know what to look for. Oh well.

many years ago i bought gas and only got 1/2 mile down the street and car quite and wouldn't start. had it towed and the cause was water in gas. i went to the gas bar and complained but they told me to prove they were responsible. fortunately a friend of my parents worked for the goverment that had something to do with different types of fuel storage and regulations. he had one of his workers go dip their tanks (underground) and sure enough they had water in their tanks. they had to pay for my cost of emptying tank, tow and fuel. i don't know if it's just a coincidence that it happened just after u got gas or not but bad gas was my first thought.

The reason I thought it was gas was because after I got gas it didn't start, but then I went inside and bought some fuel injector cleaner stuff (ridiculously overpriced I might add) and it started up.

I doubt the injector cleaner had anything to do with your car starting up. There would have been no time for it to circulate through your fuel system, and reach the injectors to make any sort of difference. That and I don't think the results are instantaneous. Good luck nonetheless.
