I got Bonzi on the road about 2 weeks ago, the day I was questioned by the Secret Service, but still have a few problems to figure out. Rear shocks have been ordered, after 35 years I think they should be changed, it seems to jump around when I hit a bump. Turn signals, horn and back up lights are not working, more digging there. The engine has lots of power, much more than I remember, but the carbs have been changed to round tops and they (dealership) put in a 'high performance' cam, #13001-N3626, makes a very nice tone out the 2 1/2 inch exhaust. I've put about 225 miles on it so far and you still can't slap the smile off my face. LOL I tried to get photos of my "crack free" dash but didn't turn out. Enjoy and all comments are welcomed.

About the seats: They were redone with more padding back in the 80's when the car was to be copper but things changed and I couldn't afford to have them torn apart and done in black. I'm thinking of selling these and having a new set made in black, with more padding of course.

Thanks xray, I am proud of it because I never thought I could ever get it done. It was done with all the advice and knowlege of this forum.

Black seats!!! - - - no no - - - the car has a white interior - -get the white seat upholstery...

The Z looks great....keep at it and in no time all the little bugs will be worked out... then it will be time to drive it to Cleveland.

72 Metallic Blue 240Z with a WHITE interior

Congratsulations on getting your car back on the road. It looks great, I too have an affinity to the blue Z, I have a 73Z with the same color combination execpt mine is an automatic(this has been cronicled). I am not sure if the seats on this color combination where black or where they the off white like the door panels? The guy I got the car from went with more of a light tan vice the off white. My seats are currently a very ugly light tan, I will be changing them out soon, but was going to go with off-white but if black was the color then I got a set of black seats up in the rafters of the garage. After I get my interior back together I will take pictures of it to compare. I got the new vinyl and plastic from Les at Classic Datsun ready to go in...I am just waiting for this guy to complete a precut ready to install sound/heat proofing kit(a subject for a new thread).

the Metallic Blue 240-Z's came with either white or black interiors in 72/73. The 73 was more an off-white, as they had to switch to flame retardent materials in 73.

Datsun's color guides show Metallic Blue with white interiors, but a few did come though with Black interiors - usually at the first few months of production. (I know because I waited for a car with the white interior at the time).

If the car had a black interior - it had black seats, door panels and vinyl trim.

If the car had a white interior - it had white seats, door panels and vinyl trim.

Nissan didn't mix the colors..

Tell more about the off-white, how "off-white" was it when it was new? The new vinyl I got from Classic Datsun is not brite white but it not as dark as my door panels and the old vinyl. Les said that it is because of the age of the old stuff that it is darker because of dirt/sun etc. My new plastic is almost exactly the color of the old stuff so Classic Datsun is right on with that. Just like the Bonzi Lion, I am trying to keep my interior looking stock. I was pretty sure I was right and agree with the Nissan did't mix the colors statement. I agree the blue with off-white interior looks great, I am proud to own one with that combination....the car is dog, but looks great.
