I need help finding parts sources for...

Hi everyone,

I am in the middle of my restoration of my 76 280, and I am having trouble finding a source for a few odds and ends:

1) My parking brake cable that comes from both rear wheels and mounts above the rear diff. It worked fine when it was on the road, but inspecting it after I took it off revealed the plastic sleeving around the cable at it's "U" bend is chaffed off. Further, the rubber dust boots at the end where it mounts to the drums are utterly deteriorated.

I've tried all the popular vendors such as MSA, Black Dragon, Z Car Parts in Arizona, even Z barn for a used one and all of his are in similar condition. It is NLA new.

Perhaps I can just repair it??

2) Does anybody here have a favorite source for the short heater hoses that come from the firewall to the water valve and on to the heater core? They don't have to be braided like the originals, but they do have to be bendable without collapsing, and last a long time. Has anyone tried silicone? Will it hold up?

I thought Black Dragon had the heater hoses. That's where I got the replacements for my 240z. Have you tried Courtesy Nissan yet?

Black Dragon, I know I forgot to check them for hoses and you were right, they have all the shaped hoses necessary. Thank you.

PS- Anybody out there replaced their parking brake cables lately? Have any good sources?

Check with a local dealer but i think the 280 cable is NLA. If you can't find a good used one. A hot rod company called "Lokar" www.lokar.com has a universal one that is extremely close. I think it could be made to work with the factory hand brake. My 240 hand brake cable is in great shape so I am going to use it but would have tried the Lokar option if I couldn't.I replaced my 240 stock throttle linkage with Lokar's braided stainless steel cable, after a few simple mods it is working and looks great.

Your Nissan Dealer should be able to order the hose for you. The parts guys , you will find, are much more likely to come up with parts if you give them the part numbers.

We sell a parts CD here on the web site, that is a copy of the Nissan micro fish.

It is a great help when you are looking for parts . Some times it helps to find parts that are on other year Zs that are the same. Gary

Will this 280Z E-brake cable assembly fit a '72 240Z? I've been looking for one all week and new ones are impossible to find for a 240. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
