Well as the title says I did my own Mod. to my clock. I was tired of looking at my Z clock being in the same spot since I purchased the car. I tried to fix the clock that was there but the oscillating spring was broken off of the main shaft. After setting the clock guts aside in a zip lock bag, I decided to take action and do something of my own.

The clock I used was a 8$ travel alarm from Target. I cut the clock out of it's body down to a useable frame. I also made a plate from perforated .050" aluminum to fit where the clock face did. I mounted the LCD and the chip that runs it along with the buttons for adjustment all on the back side of the plate I made. So here is what I came up with. What do you guys think.

yeah it would but the circut board would not allow me to go any lower then it is I filed off as much of it as I could without hitting the soder traces on it. I am just happy to have a working clock for now. I may look farther into this project in the future but for right now im happy only spending 30-60Min. and 8$.
