Scooter Posted June 3, 2008 Share #1 Posted June 3, 2008 Wondering if anybody can tell me what exactly came in the Tool Kit Jack Box from the Factory? Mine has the Jack, Wheel Chocks, Wrench Bag and a Mysterious Green Strap that I can't figure out what it would be for. Mine has the Jack, Wheel Chocks, Wrench Bag and a Mysterious Green Strap that I can't figure out what it would be for. Thanks for any help, Scott Hi Scott, I found this tool kit inventory list in my '72 (mfg. 12/71). As for the green strap, I have no clue Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28321-72-240z-tool-kit-contents/#findComment-249713 Share on other sites
Arne Posted June 4, 2008 Share #3 Posted June 4, 2008 In addition, I think most Zs also had a small bag with four spare lug nuts. At least my late '71 did, and I've seen others with them too.Like Ed, I have no clue on the green strap. Goose52 Posted June 4, 2008 Share #4 Posted June 4, 2008 In addition, I think most Zs also had a small bag with four spare lug nuts...I'm wondering if they could have been provided by the dealer. Since so many early cars had dealer installed mags, and since so many of those used the shank-type mag lug nuts, you needed 4 standard lug nuts for the spare. I know when I picked up my car in '72, there were 4 standard lug nuts in the storage compartment with the jack and I just figured they were take-offs from the original steel wheels. MikeW Posted June 4, 2008 Share #5 Posted June 4, 2008 The green strap could be a detached seat bottom cushion strap. If you can post a picture that would help with the identification. sblake01 Posted June 4, 2008 Share #7 Posted June 4, 2008 I don't know about the earlier S30s but on my 78 those lug nuts are in a sealed plastic bag and appear to have never been mounted. Carl Beck Posted June 4, 2008 Share #8 Posted June 4, 2008 That is because by 78 Nissan was installing mag.'s at the factory - but they didn't give you five of them. The spare was still on a steel wheel.FWIW,Carl B. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28321-72-240z-tool-kit-contents/#findComment-249733 Share on other sites

Oiluj Posted June 4, 2008 Share #10 Posted June 4, 2008 My 72 has the original, unused spare tire. A small bag of lug nuts in a sealed plastic bag are attached to the spare with a plastic tie. soundmasterg Posted June 4, 2008 Share #11 Posted June 4, 2008 The green strap is so you can hang yourself if someone runs into your Z. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28321-72-240z-tool-kit-contents/#findComment-249786 Share on other sites
