richard1 Posted June 14, 2008 Author Share #13 Posted June 14, 2008 the engine doesn't smoke at all anymore in all conditions (deceleration or acceleration) and runs as before ...very smooth. d240zx2 Posted June 17, 2008 Share #14 Posted June 17, 2008 A compression test should be done with all spark plugs removed, carbs wedged open at WOT. If the numbers you posted weren't taken using this procedure, do it again...you've gotten false readings. richard1 Posted June 18, 2008 Author Share #15 Posted June 18, 2008 Thank you for the information. Is WOT means without throttle? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28328-big-blue-smoke-burst/?page=2#findComment-251114 Share on other sites
Nissanman Posted June 18, 2008 Share #16 Posted June 18, 2008 WOT means Wide Open Throttle. The manifold has to be opened as much as possible to the atmosphere to get all the air it can to do the compression test.I addition to the points mentioned above, the engine should be at normal operating temperature.Crank it just long enough for the pressure reading to stabilise.Make sure you vent the gauge of pressure before doing the next cylinder:cheeky: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28328-big-blue-smoke-burst/?page=2#findComment-251117 Share on other sites
