Hello!

After a pretty long search, I finally found and bought a 1971 240Z. I looked at several 260s, 280s, and even a 280ZX before finding this car sitting in a hanger out in the desert. It's a CA car, has a auto transmission, and looks like the old owner (ex-Navy fighter jock and McDonald-Douglas test pilot) took good care of it untill his health started failing. I don't think the car had been moved in a decade before I found it.

The good: The car looks complete, and stock. It's been re-painted (looks like a good job) from the original mustard to a nice "go-faster" red. The car runs nicely, and holds a steady idle. The radiator and alternator look like they have been recently replaced. Comes with a knee high stack shop manuels, some spare parts and a nice cover.

The bad: rust on both dog legs. Windshield wiper motor blown. Leaking reducer hose between the radiator and heater. Battery dead. weird electrical problems (lights sometimes work, sometimes dont). Tires badly dry rotted. Lots of dry rotting rubber. Dash board has a hard plastic cap installed, cap is cracked. Missing rear carpet, front carpets trashed. Horn inop. more to be discovered.

My goal for the car is to make a nice little Saturday night/Sunday morning car. Since the vehicle is pretty much stock, i'd like to keep it as close as possible, but Im not going to get to weird about it.

Anyhoo, Im certain i'll be posting here a lot in the coming months/years.

Thanks!
