Carl Beck Posted June 25, 2008 Author Share #14 Posted June 25, 2008 Hi Gang:Yes - we have "cruise-in's" here in the Tampa Bay area as well - have had for decades. They are in the evenings and held on the same days almost every week. The Cars & Coffee gatherings early Saturday mornings are held only once a month - and they seem to draw an almost completely different crowd of people. Morning People perhaps? Car Enthusiasts rather than Street Rod'ers, Drag Racers, Drifters etc.Just thought it was a slightly different concept to hold Saturday AM meets - and one that could be supported by businesses and/of sponsored by clubs - other than drive in restaurants. They are all fun...FWIW,Carl Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28504-cars-and-coffee/?page=2#findComment-251828 Share on other sites
bobc Posted June 25, 2008 Share #15 Posted June 25, 2008 Carl and all,As noted, we have had this event in So. Cal for a while now. It moved from a couple of years ago from a location by the ocean to the Ford Luxury Car/Mazda Headquarters building. This concept is actually trade marked! Snow and I go fairly often and at least out here it is really incredible. Seeing 5 Ford GT's, Enzo's and Bugatti's are just a normal Saturday morning. Chip Fouse was there two Saturdays ago with one of his new creations in progress.I've got to say this is by far my favorite "non" car show. No judging, no egos (ok maybe a few), and doesn't take up the whole day. Just a bunch of car guys and spectators that like to talk cars. It's also fun to watch the cars leave the lot. As a general rule, no one smokes em on the way out, but that doesn't stop them from hitting some pretty good speed before hitting second gear! Here's a link to the site:http://www.carsandcoffee.info/ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28504-cars-and-coffee/?page=2#findComment-251834 Share on other sites
Ron Carter Posted June 25, 2008 Share #16 Posted June 25, 2008 Carl, Congrats, nice write up. As Bob mentioned there is a weekly event in Southern California, and I have seen Mr Foose there as well. He is much shorter in person It is a great event, done in two hours and always a good time. Carl Beck Posted June 25, 2008 Author Share #17 Posted June 25, 2008 Hi Ron:Thanks - should be a 5 page article on the BRE Baja Z in the upcoming issue of Classic Motorsports (Sept. issue I believe). Chip Fouse is a real talent... would be great to talk to him about Design. Good thing he's still relatively young - we've lost a lot of the old guard in the past few years.FWIW,Carl B. 240Z-Fan Posted June 25, 2008 Share #19 Posted June 25, 2008 Carl, thanks for posting this. 1) I really like the idea of Cars and Coffee. It has me thinking I should try to start this locally. The big appeal for me is that it would bring out a different sort of car enthusiast. I, and many of my car friends, are not the Saturday night cruise-in sort. Some are in bed by 9:00pm; but up at 5:00 am. 2) I am excited to see the BRE Baja Z in Classic Motorsports. I love the quality of the articles in this magazine; I am sure the write-up will be first-rate. (This reminds me of why I have a 10-year subscription) Thanks and Congratulations.Al Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28504-cars-and-coffee/?page=2#findComment-251894 Share on other sites
