i bought a 73 tr6. :) driver- 10 footer - needs tlc

a price i couldn't refuse. $3500

not bad for rust either. drove it home and it purred like a kitten.

has O D

mileage unknown

pics look better than it is but after i washed the dust off not too shaby

don't worry, the zed is still my baby and won't go neglected.:)

I think you will find the TR-6 to be a lot of fun and very similar to the 240Z in terms of mechanical design. As I understand it, the 6 was the export version of the 5 which was faster but didn't meet emmission standards at the time. Either way, the 6 is fun and fast, but the Z is faster and MUCH more stable in the corners. Congrats on your purchase. No, I don't hate you!

Congrats on your LBC! Having a topless car for fun as well as a 240Z is about as good as it can get!

As for the TR5/TR6, in broad terms, first there was the TR4 (with a 4 cylinder), then the TR4a (TR4 with a 6 cylinder and IIRC the independent rear suspension) which was the export version of the TR5 (which looks the same except for badging), but then the TR6 replaced both in the US and abroad.

Maybe you're thinking of the TR 250, a 6-cylinder-engined version of the TR4/4a, seen in the US for only 1968. The TR6 was a new design. It came with PI (petrol injection) in the UK and carbs in the US. UKL spec made around 150hp, US spec was a meager 115 or so (later around 100 with smogging)

BTW, Moss motors sells a nice supercharger kit for TR6s that boosts the power to around 150hp, if you're so inclined...(wink, wink)

Wow - talk about having Day and Night. A Datsun 240-Z and a Triumph TR6 is about as close as you can come to the dawning of the new age. I liked the TR4/6 for style and top down fun. (Although I also like the 2.0L Fiat 124 Spyders as well)

In one garage you'll have a blast from the past and a representative of the future both circa the 70's. On the one hand -The British Sports Car of the 50's carried forward into the 70's. On the other hand - Japan's frontal attack on the Sports/GT market for the future.

Uni-body vs. Frame and Body

150HP 2.4L OHC L6 with 7 main bearings vs 104HP 2.5L Pushrod I6 with 4 main bearings

Front Suspension - MacPherson Struts vs Upper and Lower Wishbones with coil springs

Rear Suspension - Chatman Struts vs Semi-trailing Arms, Lever Arm Shocks !! (does it really still have Lever Arm Shocks in the rear for 73?)

At $3,500.00 if the engine isn't shot - I don't see how you could go wrong, especially if you like the straight arm driving position and the wind and rain in your hair!. Now I'll have to start looking around here, but I doubt I'll find a good TR6 for less than twice that price here in Florida.... but maybe....

built date-73 model date on ownership.

got some spare parts-wire harness and shock arms

he held back the tr250-6 electrical handbook and the factory shop manual.

i thought they came with the car.

on one of his receipts was the two manuels and the price that he paid

$55 and $60

he'll sell them to me for cost no taxes.

should i get them??
