1981zx

Hello. My name is Mark. I live in Kingston NY & I recently acquired a 1981 Datsun 280zx. I saw the car for sale on a used car website and it seemed too good to be true. It had under 50,000 miles, original owner and not a spot of rust on it. My wife and I took the trip down to Williamsburg VA on a Friday afternoon. We stayed in a hotel Friday night and I hardly slept a wink. Saturday morning when we pulled into the seller's driveway and I saw the car sitting there I knew right then that I would be driving it home later that day.

I have loved the 240z-280zx since I was very young and I have come close to purchasing a few over the years but nothing ever panned out. When I was around 10 years old I bought a book at the bookstore entitled, "Datsun 280zx". I read the book many times and studied the pictures in it for years. Somewhere along the line my Datsun 280zx book and I parted ways. When I sat down with the owner to go through the paperwork on the car that he had saved, he pulled out a copy of, "Datsun 280zx" that would go to the new owner of his Datsun 280zx.

Hi Rif:

Sounds like a very well cared for, low mileage ZX. I'm sure it will give you decades of enjoyment. It is getting harder and harder to find 280ZX's like that...

Since the tread is titled 1981ZX, I'll mention this ZX here for other ZX Enthusiasts.

If you know anyone that would like an all black, 79 280ZX 2+2, that could be a potential Gold Medallion Winner - with less than 7K original miles, from the original owner - let me know. The car is in Colorado and would be $20K. Very interesting history too...
