Oiluj Posted July 29, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 29, 2008 I'm talking about the ones that were applied to the top, inside of the windshield. The ones I remember were silver and had "240Z" in darker letters that could be seen from outside the car.Did some web searching have not found a source... BRE-240Z Posted July 29, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 29, 2008 Unless I'm misunderstanding something, what Julio is looking for is the 'tint strip' that goes across the top of the windshield. I don't think that he's actually looking for a sun shade. Arne Posted July 29, 2008 Share #6 Posted July 29, 2008 True, the part we are looking for is at the top of the windshield in this picture.http://classiczcars.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=22201&d=1205430997 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28861-anybody-know-if-mylar-windshield-sunshades-are-available/#findComment-254815 Share on other sites
sblake01 Posted July 29, 2008 Share #7 Posted July 29, 2008 Haven't seen those in years. That's the type that requires moisture to install, right? Had one on my 510. I've had the type that cling to the glass since the and are usually dark with white lettering but I don't think that's the type you're looking for. I've spent about an 1/2 hour looking on-line, but no luck so far. I've considered seeing about getting one made locally. TomoHawk Posted August 21, 2008 Share #10 Posted August 21, 2008 If you just want to add a strip of tinting along the top, you can get a roll of tinted stuff that you just cut to length and press in place. I put one on my other car, and it's been there for 10 years so far. I put ut in line with the rear-view mirror, leaving a gap at the top so you can see the traffic light if you too close. I've never needed to use the sunvisor that way. I think that if you wanted something with a logo on it, a sign shop might be able to put some graphics on tinted vinyl for you. Either that or a ricer shop.thxZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28861-anybody-know-if-mylar-windshield-sunshades-are-available/#findComment-257473 Share on other sites
TomoHawk Posted August 21, 2008 Share #11 Posted August 21, 2008 I don't use a sunshade per se, but I do have two lexan panels that snap into the windscreen. They are painted gray on the back, and on the front I stuck on dash plaques from all the car show I went to. The panels store behind the seat, and the car is noticeably cooler. Is there a sun shade for the hatch glass? Arne Posted October 9, 2008 Share #12 Posted October 9, 2008 I talked to a couple of shops about making these. As you'd expect, the mirrored mylar part is easy. The '240Z' (or other) logo is the hard part. Most tint, sign and glass shops just flat said no. One said he could put the mylar on the inside, but the only equipment he has to die-cut the logo won't cut the thin tint material, only sticker-grade vinyl. The vinyl is too thick to stick to the inside of the glass and then try to apply the mylar over it. His best advice was to put the mylar on the inside and the logo on the outside of the glass. Not sure how that would look, plus I think the vinyl logo would be in the path of the wipers.Short answer - still looking...
