While you blokes have got your calculaters warmed up;

My shed is 50ft long by 16ft wide by 12ft high at the apex.

Now, ..... if I can just convince Barb to sell the caravan currently living in the shed, .......................................................................................

AHHHHhhhh, YES, ... what some men dream of.

Rick.

The post lift is still in the plans but not 100% The ceiling height is 9 feet except on one side where we left it open to the loft, that would be where the lift goes. I've looked at several lifts including the mobile version that gets you 48 to 53 inches in the air. Does anyone have any experience with this version?

It might be too late - but maybe not. Make sure your garage door openings are at least 9' instead of the usual 8'. Most four post lifts, that have mobile capability ( you can roll them around when the ramps are down)... have Posts that are 8'4" to 8' 10". Which means you can't roll them out the standard height garage door.

At times you'd want to roll the lift outside - to pressure wash the undercarriage perhaps... and you wouldn't want the water inside the garage. At time's you might want to roll the lift outside, just to get it out of the way for a few hours.. so other operations can take place in the Garage..

Randy,

Stick some more wood on top there and put 14' ceilings in so you can stick in a lift or two. I have 14' ceilings in my garage and put in the tall lift and I can get 86" of lifting height out of it. I am 6' and can walk around under the car without ducking, and still have two more notches left. Mine came with the castors so I can move it around if I need to. As Carl says, get the 9' garage doors if you can, makes it easy to move the lift in and out. The lift was the Best Car-Related Purchase EVER! There are plenty of options for good lifts around the $2K range.

Do it while you can, you won't regret it! You know you'll end up with another car or two someday, so putting a lift or two in the new garagemahal will let you do that with no problems :classic:

I am glad to see there is no back door because that would first step would be a doozy.

After Fay left here I could use alot of that TN dirt you have laying around.

I bought 100 loads of dirt this spring and you can hardly tell where it went on the back of my property. Expensive as dirt is around here I might have to dig a very large pond in one corner and use that dirt as fill. Always another project to take time away from the Z.

Tom

More progress, and I pick up the 73 tomorrow..........:D

Looks like the four post lift is out of the picture, however I plan on getting one of these......I also saw a portable ML-6 by Bend Pac, has anyone seen this one before, searching the web doesn't turn up a whole lot.
