I have my original numbered and colored-topped keys with the original key fob, safe and sound. I made several copies from HOME DEPOT for less than $2.00 per key!

I would rather live with the "indignity" of that than pay someone an obscene profit. Anybody that pays multiples of what they are worth also buys inflated junk from that "person" in Texas on ebay who wants to charge $20 to ship a shift knob.

I doubt anyone has bitten at those prices yet. This is "publicity" like Hitler had.

What's the deal? Don't think the keys are worth it. Don't buy them. I see a lot of cheering going on when a restored Z sells for a high price. Be careful what you wish for. If people start thinking they can make a few bucks on selling restored cars and rare parts then you are going to get exactly what's happening here. It's about supply and demand. They don't make 240Z's anymore so the supply is shrinking daily as they rust away, get wrecked/crushed and "restored" by people who don't know what they're doing and ruin the cars. Promoting the 240Z will increase demand. Prices will go up. Has anyone seen Classic Hemi Cuda's going for a million bucks? Imagine what an OEM key blank for that thing would be if it were as rare as the one for the Z. I for one hope the Z never gets particularly popular.

Steve

I would love to get a set of original keys, but reality sets in when you look at what some people try to sqeeeze out of your desire to complete a classic car - too bad.

I had a really stupid experience yesterday - I was going to order a oil pressure sensor (OEM type) and it cost $53 - I wasn't impressed but that was the type I wanted, so I agreed to purchase and when we got to the shipping it was $73. I couldn't do it - I will live without accuracy. There is a limit.

Sailor:

Just go down and order one from your local Nissan Dealer... or though several aftermarket automotive parts stores.. Maybe a vendor in Canada would have to charge less postage???

BTW - who quoted $20.00 for shipping?

FWIW,

Carl B.

Carl - Our local dealer is less than motivated about classic vehicles, I have tried on three occasions to solicit thier assitance (to blank stares). Generally, If it's over ten years old they are not interested - but who knows a phone call could save $$.

Thanks for the tip.

SB

Doradox,

The pretending and deliberate misleading is the issue.

The value of the keys is just a small part of it.

Will

I understand that. Greed driven by the rising value of rare items unfortunately brings that out. This kind of thing happens virtually every time some item becomes popular and people start competing for the money that popularity draws in. Oh well. :(

[TO BE EDITED]

The kind of crap surfsnake2 is pulling is the kind of thing I expect at zcar which is exactly why I don't go to that site any longer...lots of immature childish members. It's RARE to find this kind of thing on this site which is one reason I like it here.

lets pretend like i found this and this exact key was sitting on my desk in front of me.

What is it worth?

Let's pretend like you already bought them! Jerk. Don't play games with us.

i bought them from a dealer who found them in the back but they were kind of expensive so i wasnt sure if it was worth getting them at the time or not

Oh what a tangled web we weave when at first we set to deceive...

Actually i posted here because i went looking for them, found some but the price i thought was unreasonable, so i asked here decided it would probably be worth it so i take a couple of extras with me(what he had left). I only discuss money and politics with family.

Ok, so you thought that the price was unreasonable you buy them and then mark them up 10x, so what would you call your price...prison gang rape!

If you only discuss money with family, and clearly you don't consider us family by your actions, why did you ask us for a price...that's discussing money. Hypocrite!!

the second picture, the one in this thread, i had not yet purchased they key, that is a picture of a key from here, that matches the cut side. i didnt ask if i could photograph the keys before i bought them. and the dealer was someone who i know who works at a nissan dealership and had purchased them a long time ago and he was willing to sell me what he had personally, not through the actual dealership but through himself.

well i actually didnt know him i knew him through somebody in a zclub

Interesting since the auction ended before this thread was started.

Why the lies? Why the convoluted stories...a friend of a friend garbage? Just come out with it and be honest. Members on this site and others (yes, I read the thread on hybridz also) are quite savvy and we do watch and discuss eBay auctions all the time. It's hard to pull a fast one with us, especially when you flaunt it in our faces.

Furthermore, you may not like me, but you have given me more advertising than i could ask for, when your the only one who has something available, you dont have to be liked to sell it, you just have to have it

You're right, nobody has to like you to buy something from you that they want....although most people will not do business with someone they dislike or distrust and that's exactly the reputation you have created for your self. So yes, you have received much advertising...just not the kind you really wanted.

did hitler sell nissan keys?

WTF? You can't be serious! clearly you don't understand the analogy...or perhaps you are just attempting to make a joke.

Are you talking about reddat (or something like that) from Houston? If so he's another crook, I've dealt with him a few years ago unfortunately.

i thought yesterday or the day before you werent in the market, oh well so many posts are hard to keep up with, i lost another customer with only 3 keys left what ever will i do they are so unbelievable hard to move, oh wait nevermind its actually kind of easy.

yea i have only 37 posts, what the hell do i do with my life if im not posting on the internet, probably something stupid. im so an internet loser how will i EVER develop real world friends who i will actually meet with my horrible e-track record. DAMN!

Only 3 left? Really? I'm sure you can "explain" this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=018&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=280262252676&rd=1

More lies.

Oh, and in all his time and posts on this club Will has been a solid contributor!! You on the other hand have been...well...crap.

Seriously man, have you gone back and read your posts? You sound like a complete idiot. I agree with others, making a profit is one thing...misleading and lying about things to profit from the less knowledgeable is unacceptable. You are knowingly clouding the facts in your auction!! As with Will, all I know of you is what I have read today right here, and it's a very unflattering picture of you (in your high school English class today ask your teacher to teach you how to properly capitalize and punctuate)...I've got to echo the other's opinions of you, you're self-centered childish arse.

I'd like to nominate you for being banned from this site.

Snake is getting railroaded. Give him a warning, it is the right thing to do for now.

I have sold a few items to a certain person in Texas and have had no problems with him as a seller. Sure he got the items at a good price and now relisting them for more, but who am I to complain about that, I just wanted the items out the garage.

$100 for a key, I have a complete lock set what would that go for....just kidding about the "what would it go for" thing. I think I still have 3 or 4 lock sets. I sold a set for a 280ZX with the matching gas cap to the Prez of my club for $120....he lucked out.
