Is your Z 'done'? Post here, if so.

Recommended Posts

How many of you would say that your Z is 'done' or 'complete'? I'm not talking about normal maintenance items, or little stuff, but is the car essentially the way you want it?

I'm curious. You always hear of people who say, "my project will never be done, there's always more to do." And that's certainly OK. But for the most part, my car is pretty much the way I want it now, and I can't see doing a lot more to it - I just want to drive it, and maintain it.

Anyone else consider their car to be mostly 'complete' as is?

...Ideally it needs paint a bit, and on top of that a color change... into some citrus hue.

The dashboard has a half cap which pisses me off on occasion, I'd much rather have a full cap or a new dashboard entirely... Likely at some point I'll have a full cap.

I think it would be excessively cool to have a car with an L28 turbo, 5 speed, lowered suspension etc... But that would be a project for another car, as this one is too pristinely original (aside from the paint).

So.....that would be a no? ;)

Haha, I tripped on the if/then statement.

Though I was initially going to chime in with sympathy to the original poster seeing as there's nothing my car really needs, til I thought about things for two more seconds. If those fixes were more of a priority then I would have less readily admitted to anything... :D

My cars are about as 'done' as I'm going to do with them. They run and perform properly, everything functions on them, and they look halfway decent. Sure, there's always something that could be done to make them 'better' but I have more important thing to do with my money. What you said, Arne, applies to how I view each of my vehicles.

But for the most part, my car is pretty much the way I want it now, and I can't see doing a lot more to it - I just want to drive it, and maintain it.

Yep. Outside of rechroming and replating some items and sticking on some decals, mine is as complete as I want it to be. Of course, there's still the matter of rebuilding the numbers matching L24, and tweaking the L28, but that's not necessary to drive and enjoy the car.

Done with the 77.

She's gone from almost impossible to steer with bottoming out suspension, misfiring engine, bad wheel bearings, no: radio, antennae, highbeams, windshield wipers, heater, A/c, stereo. With busted console, faded out carpets, vacum leaks, noisy fourspeed, bad clutch, sun faded paint, bad brakes, homemade m. bar bushings, mismatched wheels and tires TO a daily driver that I have put 10,000 miles on since buying (including 300 miles this Friday - half in torential rain) and would drive across Canada tomorrow (If I had a reason to). Further that I get unsolicited offers on and numerous compliments on and on one occasion got the girls at Tim Hortons coffee all in the window at once to admire my beautiful `Porsche`.

Long way from home on the 73.
