Welcome. Interesting screen name. Is that for 'Noise, Vibration, and Harshness?' I studied a little engineering back in school but only about enough to remember some of the terminology. I guess you could call them 'first gen' but since you talking 70-78, S30 would be more accurate.

Welcome. Ross! You'll find that there are quite a few knowledgeable S30 people up here in the Pacific NW. As you continue your search, you may want to visit a few local or regional club gatherings to meet a few of these folks, who can help advise you.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Yep, the NVH does stand for noise, vibration and harshness. I tend to gravitate to cars that fall into this category. In the past, I've owned a '65 Mustang, '93 Firebird Formula, '80 RX-7, and a '93 Mustang Cobra. Right now I have a '98 Pontiac GP GTP. While I love the whine of the SC, it's pretty heavy and WWD for me so I've started my quest to find a Z.

It sounds like there's great support here, so I look forward to becoming a member of this community.

Thanks Mike! I may take you up on that offer at some point. It seems that rust is the big monster on these cars, so it'd be nice to have someone who knows exactly where to look with me.

Do you know anything about Z Specialties in Snohomish? I've driven past there on the weekends, but they are always closed (looks like he's only open during the weekdays). The owner appears to have several Zs on the lot in a variety of conditions.

I know of Z Specialties, but I have never been there because, as you mentioned, they are only open during the week. I think Zs-ondabrain (Dave from Marysville) is familiar with Ollie the owner.

Yup, he's there on the week-ends sometimes, but you'll never get him to answer the door. That's his Private time. Oliver's a good guy and definately knows his way around a Z.

By the way, First Gen would be known as the S30 as they were the first Z cars until the body change in 79 thru 83. Series one would be the very first marketed design of the 240Z (69' to early 71')

The Series 1 Z is recognized mainly by it's vented hatch (2 chrome horizontal vents) and 240Z emblem on the upper quarter panel behind the quarter window (Datsun circle with "240Z" written across the circle.

My numbers may be off a little but there was only about 16,000 ?? series 1's.

Series 2 Z's have vented quarter panel emblems and non vented hatches.

There are Many differences between years but no matter what you get, you'll find everything you need to know about that speciofic year right here at CZCC (Classic Z Cars Club)

I'm in Marysville, write me any time you're gonna be in the area, we'll shoot the shite and go from there. Welcome to the Best damn Z car site on the web.

Dave.
