Zhound Posted October 28, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2008 hey everybody im new and i kinda bought a z car from my gramps. (im only 15 & 1/2 right now so its not licensed under me) im planning to fix it up, i think its got 100,000+ miles on it, dont know what to do with it exactly right now. its a '78 280z. i just got a battery for it last week, ran for the first time in 3 years, i think its rich, as in exhaust is black as coal. just thought it'd be a simple car to learn and stuff..:ogre: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/29799-hello-everyone/ Share on other sites

sblake01 Posted October 28, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2008 78 is a good year. The last refinment of the S30 chassis. (I also own one) Simple car to learn? Well...that depends on how quickly you pick up on things. There is much to learn. I think they're simple but I've been dealing with them for basically all of my adult life. bigoak Posted October 28, 2008 Share #8 Posted October 28, 2008 Yeah, welcome aboard!Use the search function liberally to find out almost anything you need to know. If you can't find it with search, ask and you'll be amazed at how quick the answers show up.Treat her well. I'm not sure a Z would have been a good idea for me as a first car. I trashed a few (mechanically more that crack-ups) and it would have been a shame to waste a Z...hope you show more sense than I had :-) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/29799-hello-everyone/#findComment-264751 Share on other sites
mikehos2004 Posted October 29, 2008 Share #9 Posted October 29, 2008 Yeah I'd have to agree 78 is a good year. Very solid car, as are all years Z's. My first car was also a Z, a 1975, twenty years ago. The big difference is that now I treat the car with much, much more respect. Your good to it, it pays you back kindly with tons of enjoyment.Good luck with you car. DeMoore Posted October 30, 2008 Share #12 Posted October 30, 2008 My first lot of good and inexpensive replacement parts came from blackdragonauto, including the antenna that I have on there now. THe car looks good, the biggest thing that sticks out is that bump on her nose. All the rust is fixable, but how's your spare wheel compartment and your battery tray for rust?
