1980 ZX 10th Anniversary Edition with 49 miles on eBay - $35,000

Recommended Posts

Did anyone see this listing from a Nissan dealer in NY selling a new never been registered 280 ZX 10th Anniversary Edition with 49 miles! There are 29 bids already with 2 hours left on the auction. Do you think this car is worth that much money? My major concern would be the seller ID is new with 0 feedback. Also does anyone else become leary when you see one or two people bidding up the price? It almost appears that these bidders may be working with the seller to artificially bid up the price and lure a real bidder into making a bid. Does anyone else share this concern with eBay?

Like to see another thread going where we all debate the value of the Z's.

I did meet a guy a few weeks ago that tells me he has a 280zx 10th edition with 7 miles! He bought one to drive and another to sit.....these cars are out there. Anyone remember how many miles the one at the Daytona convention had on it? The guy wanted 50K.

does anybody else think the engine looks pretty dirty for a car with only 49 miles?

I had the same thoughts when I saw the engine pics. Also, if you were storing a car like that as a future investment, wouldn't you take better care of it and not leave in a corner of some buidling surrounded by other things that could damage the car?

My major concern would be the seller ID is new with 0 feedback.
The seller appears to be a Nissan dealer in Amherst, New York. I have bought stuff from other Nissan dealers on eBay in the past with no problem.

It looks like overspray on the windshield fluid container & I believe I saw the car in an ad prior to ebay for 45,000.

My 81 engine bay looks 10times nicer with 51,000 miles on it.

Sold at $37,100.00 About right for the condition of the car. Had it been properly stored and not been undercoated by the Dealer... it would most likely have been a $50K car.

As it sits, it is going to need a lot of hours of detailing...

FWIW,

What calculator do you use? The one I use only goes through 2007:

$35236.56 in the year 2007 has the same "purchase power" as $14000 in the year 1980.
