Greetings folks,

Honestly, I'm just dropping in to gain a bit of information on specific 240z parts. I love your little cars, make no mistake, but I'm a Subie junkie at heart. Just dropping in to (hopefully) get some info/measurements on a project I'm working on, to help cross-reference some parts.

I run my own Subaru forum/club in the SLC area, so it's common courtesy that I'm taking the time to introduce myself.

Own:

1978 Subaru Brat project

2006 Subaru WRX, Cobb stage 3, VF39 turbo, 305 awhp (385 crank hp)

2007 Subaru B9Tribeca 7-pass Ltd - bone stock.

Both my Tribeca and my WRX have HUGE aftermarket support, but the Brat has almost nothing.... particularly 1st generation brats.

I've already planned an entire STI engine/transmission/drivetrain swap, and I've gathered a good bit of information that should help out during the process.

The body itself requires 100% fabrication though.... there is literally NOTHING available. Unlike the norm, I'm going with a lower, fatter, more modern stance with the brat... and the factory 13x4.5s aren't going to cut it. Going with a full coilover setup, and (hopefully) 17x10s on all 4 corners. Lots of "Monster truck" looking flares out there, but the zg flares available for your cars have really interested me.

I've researched DOZENS of older vehicles with good aftermarket support, with the hopes of finding not only a car with a similar sized wheelwell, but also aftermarket fender flare resources.

With that, I cannot seem to locate any dimensions on the wheelwell openings of an early 70s 240Z..... would someone be willing to go out into their garage and measure? I need:

1) Length from front to back, at the lowest point of the wheelwell openings

2) Length from the lowest point of the wheelwell, to the highest point in the arch.

3) Are the front wheel openings the same size as the back?

Also, if anyone happens to be using the "zg flares", or the "super zg flares", I would appreciate the same measurements. Yes, I am looking for a bolt-on type flare for my Subaru Brat... crazy, but I'm doing it, and the 240Z seemed a suitable choice to research..... similar size car, both perfect semi-circular wheelwells... it just made sense to research it.

I'm going to bookmark this page and check in often.

Thanks in advance for all your help.... I really do appreciate it.

In addition, how much "flexibility" do the zg flares have? (fiberglass).

I thought you may be looking into the ZG flares. I have never seen them, but I wish you luck on your project. LONG time subaru junkie here as well. Sold my 06 STI to get my 240Z. Still have the outback XT. My last 8 cars have been subarus since 1999.

My NASIOC name is SCRAPPYDO

Thanks!

Not a big NASIOC fan...... lots of knowledge, but lots of not-so-much-knowledge as well. I like ClubWRX a lot better. The build thread on my WRX is like 9 pages long, with over 8200 views:

Front...

1) Length from front to back, at the lowest point of the wheelwell openings = 31"

2) Length from the lowest point of the wheelwell, to the highest point in the arch. = 24"

Rear...

1) Length from front to back, at the lowest point of the wheelwell openings = 31"

2) Length from the lowest point of the wheelwell, to the highest point in the arch. = 23"

^^^^ Thank you.

Interesting.... my wheelwells are 27 inches wide, at the lowest (widest) point.

I noticed that the front and the back of the wheelwells on a 240Z are not level, whereas mine are (or close anyway). Were the front to back measurements you made level with the ground..... or were they from the actual lowest points of the wheelwell? (not level with the ground)

But then again.... the zg flares do not go all the way to the bottom of the wheelwells.

Anyone have any measurements on the zg flares?

Think they'll "stretch" to accomodate my fenderwells? Actually, I guess they'd have to "squash", not stretch.

Once again... thanks for your help. I wish I had a set to "test fit"

Another thought... I saw one set on ebay, but they looked extremely cheap and low quality. Anyone have any good sources for buying a set? Do they make a set in abs plastic?
