I currently own a 1995 civic hatchback, but i'm trying to get back into the Z community. I've owned a 76 280z, three 280zx's one of them being turbo, and an 85 300zxT. I love the entire line of z-cars.

I live in oklahoma where there is a lack of Z interest. I want to find a 240z-280z to buy, but i am a poor college kid, trying to make it on my own. I am really looking to trade my civic for a Z. . . . . . Pausing for laughter. . . . I know it seems impossible, but i figure someone out there wants a super reliable daily driver thats gets 30+ mpg. So i figured i'd put the word out and maybe i'll get a bite.

I look forward to one day becoming a proud Z car fanatic again. Thanks for taking the time out of your day. Have a good one!

Not to sound callous, but your in college. What you need is a super reliable daily driver that gets 30 mpg. Have some patience and graduate first. A Z will just take time away from your studies, as it will need two things, that college students do not have, Time and Money.

You can be a Z fanatic after you graduate. Do not lose site of the goal...school should be first and foremost your mission in life. All good things come afterward. You will see.

Keep the civic, its a fine car...and will serve you well until you get your diploma and get a good paying job. Then you can make good with your Z ambitions.

Well sure, if you want to be mature about it... LOL

But what happens if you mature and/or get married and have kids, then that maturity makes you decide to get a sensible minivan or some such rot. The dream goes on the backburner until it's a distant memory, and the cold, dark world smashes to bits any inclination to venture from your safe, set path until you finally reach an age where your kids have moved out and you find that you now have the time to fill the void with a classic Z. When you find one, you feel the rush of the wind in your face, the speed and agility, you take in the classic curves and the looks of people you pass, and as you grip the steering wheel rounding a curve and then rocket to 60 miles an hour, you want to enjoy having waited to earn this thrill, this love, after all your years of responsilbility and sensibility, but no, instead, the thought rushes through your head, over and over again until it makes you sick...

Now why in the hell didn't I do this when I was in college?

I deeply respect the opinion of Zedyone, just offering another opinion. Please gamble responsibly :P

Also, may I suggest a 77 or 78. Classic curves with a slightly bigger engine. 240s are great, too, though. Next one for me will be one of those.

Thanks for the replies. Sometimes i just want to take out a loan from my bank and go car shopping. I used to own a 76 280z, but the motor locked up. Had to sell it off as a project car. Cars are my passion, and i'm passionate about my cars. If it was up to me i'd trade my civic off in an instant. I've already brought my civic back from neglected status. All new bushings, wheel bearings, Big brakes up front, integra swar bars, Rebuilt, by me, JDM motor to replace the one i busted. Lots of stuff ive done to this civic; i've got about 6k in it so far. I've got documentation on this car all the way back to 27k miles, no rust, i know everything thats been done to it. Hell if i had an acura integra GSR motor in it i could call my civic an integra gsr clone.

I won't stop dreaming about a Z car until i get another good one. I've been pricing cars that i want for my next ride, but all the good rear wheel drive cars are non existent in my price range, except a z32 or s30 or a 240sx, but I'd rather have the s30. The old 76 i had still out handles my civic to this very day, and all it had was a sagging old suspension and 2 new front tires. This civic is the only FWD car ive owned, and don't get me wrong its a great car, but im a RWD man at heart.

I won't stop college till i get a degree, i won't stop pushing forward till i get what i want;I'll never give up.

Welcome to the club! Well, after you find a perfect Z, we'll have to change your user ID to "Ihaveazcar"... :D

Good luck with the ads. You can also post an ad here as I'm sure you'll find that we've got a better focus on Z's than anyone else on the planet. :bunny: But, that's just a proud admin talking. ha!

I don't know about you, but my Z is super reliable and gets near 30mpg.

I'm in college and have been nothing but happy with my Z. Sure owning a 40 year old car can be frustrating at times, but my Z's a hell of a lot more reliable than my girlfriends '01 Jetta.

If you want a Z just take the time to find a good one, and then buy it!

I am 30 years old, out of college, married, and have 3 great kids. Two girls.. ( 2 and 4)..and one son.. (14). My son is looking for his own Z as his first car, and my girls love to get out in the shop with me. My wife loves the fact that I can get out of her hair by working on it all the time. So... I say go for it... and if you have to get that family car, just make sure that the Z gets the garage!

Family car? Do you mean like an S30 2+2? :D

Seriously, me wife wants to trade in our 02 Mits Lancer for one. I'm all for that, and the two kids will fit in the back (baby car seats).

Thats a great idea.... I had not thought of that. I didn't much like the 2+2 until I saw Jay28's.... take a gander at this one.... Great family car!

Do you like the HHR Stephen? I used one as a loner for a day when the girlfriend's Jetta was in the shop (a regular thing for it) and I was not impressed. Teeny-tiny gun slit windows that started at the shoulder and acres of grey plastic. It was pretty anemic too, definitely not a driver's car. Although I see that it's your wife's, I just wanted to know your impressions.
