g9m3c Posted December 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2008 Well, at least it runs now!http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...t=MOV00005.flvOne thing I can't figure out though is the way it runs. It's idling really rough as you can tell in that video. That may just need some fine tuning though, as I haven't messed with the idle adjusting screws or even gotten my ignition timing in the ballpark yet. But ever once in a while, randomly, it will rev up to 4,000 rpm or so on its on for a second or two, then come back down to idle. It's crazy. Any ideas? It's definitely got a strong vaccum, even at idle. Maybe the vaccum opener control valve is spazzing out? I don't even know what that thing does. g9m3c Posted December 11, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) YES! It runs, and quite well at that. I think it was a combination of things that needed fixed or adjusted. We tuned on the carbs some, set the timing, and fixed a vaccum leak. Here's the end result:http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...MOV00003-2.flvI'm probably gonna drive it around the block tomorrow.EDIT: Here's a better video.http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c381/g9m3c/?action=view¤t=MOV00006.flv Edited December 11, 2008 by g9m3c Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/30217-very-strange-problem-with-my-260/#findComment-268635 Share on other sites

g9m3c Posted December 11, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted December 11, 2008 Might I suggest some round tops instead?? Sorry, could'nt help it. I had a question about your front bumper-ettes. Are they sections cut off of a 240z bumper or something? Looks good, btw. g9m3c Posted December 11, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted December 11, 2008 What's wrong with the round tops? show some love Oh there's nothing wrong with them. They just didn't come with my $500 purchase of the car. This car will have an LT1 in it within a year or so. I just needed it to run for the time being. If you missed my other thread, it has a freshly rebuilt L26, but it had 3 bent valves because they didn't get the cam in time before running it. I'm just now getting it back together and running again. Zs-ondabrain Posted December 11, 2008 Share #8 Posted December 11, 2008 I had a question about your front bumper-ettes. Are they sections cut off of a 240z bumper or something? Looks good, btw. I was backed into, the first week I owned the car. Guy in a van had an extended ball hitch and hit the bumper dead center. Needless to say, the bumper split, and the sides pulled away from the body. Anyways, I've always loved the 70 1/2 Camaro's with the small nerf bumpers. So I just cut the center out and reworked the metal to hold the bumper gaurds. The corners were in good shape so I figured I might as well keep 'em. Every once in a while, someone notices them and compliments them. Thank you. I like them. Dave. d240zx2 Posted December 11, 2008 Share #9 Posted December 11, 2008 G9M3C, this problem has been shown to be the result of a bad disgronificator valve.
