Z train Posted December 13, 2008 Share #13 Posted December 13, 2008 Wrapping voids any header makers warrantee.Wrapping also promotes cracking(metal fatigue)and in some enviroments accelerates rusting. Ronaldo1973 Posted December 14, 2008 Author Share #14 Posted December 14, 2008 Ronaldo, what part of Michigan are you in? Hi Jeff, I used to be in Royal Oak for about two years and I didn't see any first series Z car out there !!! Jeff G 78 Posted December 14, 2008 Share #15 Posted December 14, 2008 Hi Jeff, I used to be in Royal Oak for about two years and I didn't see any first series Z car out there !!! Are you still in the area? There aren't a ton of Z's around, but way more than you'd think. Check out www.niodetroit.com . It doesn't get much traffic in the winter, but we do several events a year which draw quite a few Z cars. Zforce Posted January 24, 2009 Share #16 Posted January 24, 2009 Hi everyone I am new to this forum and have been reluctant to post after having been flamed repeatedly on one of the other Z forums I wont say wich.Anyway I tried the header wrap years ago and found it to have no real benifit.I currently use a high quality header ceramic coated to a 2.5 inch pipe straight back to dynomax super turbo.I have tried the magnaflow but that was way to loud, good power but too loud. Jeff G 78 Posted January 24, 2009 Share #17 Posted January 24, 2009 Welcome Zforce. Don't worry, this forum is not the same as other Z forums. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/30241-exhaust-header-wrapping/?page=2#findComment-271927 Share on other sites

Travel'n Man Posted June 11, 2010 Share #20 Posted June 11, 2010 This post has not been commented on in over 1 year. Do any members have any additional comments on this topic. Beandip and Geezer had pervious notations and I am wondering how the high temp paint is holding up if anybody else has tried that. I need to give my headers a face lift but would like to keep it inexpensive until I have to replace them with coated headers.Share you success stories:). d240zx2 Posted June 11, 2010 Share #21 Posted June 11, 2010 Two years ago I coated my 39 year-old headers with black BBQ grill paint. It's still there. And the headers DO get hot, especially at the track. No peeling, still looks good. Travel'n Man Posted June 11, 2010 Share #22 Posted June 11, 2010 Frank-Thanks for the follow up. I PM'd beandip and geezer and asked for their follow up as well. If the high temp paint is working for everybody with two years of no flaking or peeling it's would have to be better than looking at headers that just look like hell, and I hate to buy a coated header until I either pull the engine or the header fails............it's kinda like my TV - I've had it for over 20 years now but the damn thing will not break so I can buy a new one..........maybe one day. d240zx2 Posted June 11, 2010 Share #23 Posted June 11, 2010 My headers are getting "thin," so they're due pretty soon I'm thinking. As for your TV, find a brick.....
