Hi all,
Looks like we had a pretty big server crash today. Please accept my apologies for the offline status. I couldn't make it back to reboot the server until tonight!
Please take a look around for your data. If it's gone, please re-post whatever you need. I don't think we lost much.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm looking into offsite storage in case this happens again. But, considering the failure, we lucked out. New drives are on order as we speak.
If you see anything bizarre on the site (stuff not working), please let me know as soon as possible!!
For all you techies out there... we are running on a hardware level raid. It's a mirror, so, that means only two drives. Well, sure enough BOTH drives decided to fail at the same time. I was able to recover by forcing a single drive online and then started a recover. Only problem with this method is that I know the drives are starting to fail. Good ol' SCSI!! Need new stuff.
Oh well, that's life in the sysadmin arena. Thank god for hardware level raids. Next time I do this, I'm going to use a minimum of 4 drives in a Raid 3. Odds of that going down are very slim.
