I noticed that the dove tails that go below the latches on both doors are missing on the 240z that I recently bought. Here's a picture of the specific part I'm talking about.

Would the doors close easier if I installed new dove tails? I noticed that the doors on the car are harder to close than previous z's I've owned.

How new is the door weather seal? I believe the dovetails act as a guide. If your weather seal is new then it will take a while (and the sun heat) to help soften them up for the door to close a little easier. IMO

Hello , when I bought my z a while back I didn't notice at first that I was missing the passenger door dove tail and thought that all I needed was a adjustment to cure the whistling sound and fix the loose fit of the door . I got a dove tail from a friends part car , installed, and in minutes fixed my door issues . My door seals are still the originals from 1971 .

I also believe that this part is integral to carry the weight load of the door so I would source some out and remedy your problem .

Have a great day

Chris

Just did some checking on the following website...

http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?quanity%5B80580-E4100%5D=1&quanity%5B80581-E4100

Looks like about $13.49 each...Local dealer may/might be higher or perhaps somewhat lower on price they might charge...
