Are you interested in an email account and/or home page (web site) account at the Classic Zcar Club? We are considering providing this OPTIONAL service. A fee of $10 per month would apply. These funds would be used to support the club and pay for our monthly obligations.

Email adresses would appear: yourname@classicZcars.com

Web site addresses would appear: yourname.classicZcars.com

or www.classicZcars.com/yourname

You have the ability to control your own account, log in and check your mail, and upload your own web site.

That's a great idea for helping pay for the site. I don't have the need for a site with e-mail and storage (as I have my own site), however I could see where it would be useful to many others.

Did you click No? :)

Sorry, not I--although it would be cool...I'm happy with my AOL. WEll, not actually 'happy', but staying put. AOL is a horrible, disgusting, decrepid, worthless, sanitized, expensive piece of crap isp BUT as bad as AOL is, it is just slightly better than everything else out there.

I like the concept, too bad it wasn't an option about 7 years ago:cry: I just have so many logins, contacts, business info etc linked to my current email/login, that it would be a horrendous pain to switch. Thanks for the option though!

Just out of curiousity how much space would be allowed on the server for web serving? Is web page material restricted to Z stuff - i'm sure there would be decency restrictions but what about other interests. Would it be cheaper w/out the email account , only for page hosting? I also don't need another email addy. I wouldn't mind getting all of my car stuff off of my university site - but I don't wanna pay $10 a month (my page is free here). Any requirements for advertising etc? Interesting idea. The only real problem I see is that it's fairly easy to find free hosts w/ maybe 10 or 20M space (but covered w/ pop-ups).

Also for my webpage I edit the HTML files using PICO by telnet, and upload stuff using FTP. What method of file editing or development are available? If you have any development tools that would be available (not canned pages!!) that would be a nice incentive....

Good idea - but maybe the price is a bit steep?

My friend bought a domain name with free hosting of 100MB (either 100 or 10 I forget) for 85$ AUD... and that's per YEAR

10$ US per month is a large amount - but I guess if you can spare thatmuch money it's not only hosting but also a donation!

Not for me though... I dont see how I could make a Z site with something that hasn't been done before...
