Hi first time posting here. I originally owned a 72 240z when I was 16 now I am trying to get another by trading off my fc rx7 turbo project. I have been a long time member on all rx7 sites, and I hope this is one of my new homes.

THe site is new to me so a pretty dumb question to kick things off. Are their stickies like most other sites that answer frequently asked questions or am I stuck searching for everything LOL. Something like a buyers guide and stuffing an rb24 someone just has laying around from an old 240sx into a s30 chassis would be helpful.

Welcome! This is a good site for S30s, lots of good info here. No, this site has never really used stickies, don't know why but we don't. Searching is your best bet for that kind of stuff.

Also, while this forum welcomes all Z enthusiasts, it is heavily biased towards those who stick with the original L-series motors - not a lot of engine swappers here. For that, you may want to join HybridZ as well. Lots of us are members both places.

Hybridz.org is more into the exotic engine swaps like SR20DET (turbo driven 240SX setups from Japan), RB series motors that start with dual overhead Nissan cams as a base to twin turbo....but this stuff requires major stiffening of frames, despite what the converting guys tell you. The RB's are what the original straight 6 Skylines that are featured in the Fast and Furious movie series. Finally, Hybrid also has occasional SBC (Small Block Chevy) and Ford swaps, too. And, there are the usual 280/L28 swaps, Turbo driven L28 swaps which the S30 bodies can generally survive.

Seen too many twisted S30 bodies from the ultra high HP stuff.

LA area is a hotbed of conversions

My own car is an original owner driven 72 240Z with over a million & half miles; 3 power trains, last being L28/dual SU carbs, 5 spd 280ZX, R200 rear

Been through Koni / (BRE/Interpart) Mullholland Springs to Nissan European Springs and KYB Gas; got tired of kidney jolts in my old age.

Got a Holbrecht roll bar for street protection and stiffening the frame without that imposing strut tie in the back.

Arne and Dave Irwin have nursed me through electrical and AC upgrades like swapping the 89 Civic A/C heater fan. Now upgrading the wiring harness for better electrical efficiency. Did a 89 Maxima Alternator upgrade for 90 amps and plenty of juice. On my AC, tossed the York piston compressor for a rotary Sanden compressor, taking up less space in place of the air pump for a Freon to R134 conversion. Uses the 4 row Motorsport radiator.

Still running the original American Libre 4 spoke 14 inch by 5.5 w/half inch negative offset, 195/65. Will eventually dump them for a set of 15 inch so I can still get better grade tires that are now starting to disappear from the 14 inch world. Son works for Falken Tire....which helps. Son is also into cars and is with Team Hybrid....

Interior with leather seats, MOMO all leather; Lights LED interior and exterior OTC Sylvania Halogens; driving lights are the hard to find CIBIE Halogens. With both sets of halogens....blinding but necessary for those back country roads...
