Adzmax Posted December 19, 2012 Share #121 Posted December 19, 2012 Nice work though, this has given me some ideas for the stands I'm looking to build. Looking good! Laggy6 Posted January 22, 2013 Author Share #122 Posted January 22, 2013 Today I dropped the C110 off at a local Resto place to get this project moving along a bit faster. It will be soda/sand blasted in the next few weeks so it will be interesting what secrets are hidden beneath the nice looking paint. Adzmax Posted January 22, 2013 Share #124 Posted January 22, 2013 Hey your dolly setup looks tops! Pretty much exactly what I'm looking to do next. Any pics of your mounting points or the jig? Can't wait to see what the car comes back like! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/31081-my-new-240k-hardtop/?page=11#findComment-412698 Share on other sites
Laggy6 Posted January 23, 2013 Author Share #125 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) Sorry mate, I don't think I have any close up pics but on the front above what you can see in the pic is a piece of angle iron approx 200mm long on each side facing downwards picking up the front crossmember bolts under the chassis rails. On the back it simply has a piece of 75x75 tube bolted between the factory cradle mount studs then some 50x50 legs and some 10 or 12mm plates to bolt the wheels to.240k style- That's the guy restoring my cars daily, It's pretty awesome! He also has another one with a 650+hp RB26. Laggy6 Posted March 7, 2013 Author Share #130 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) The shell came back from blasting yesterday and it seems to be quite straight with no major rust and no accident repairs. They used soda on the large flat area's and I think garnet In the bay, boot and underneath, I didn't get inside done because it is still really tidy and would only create more unnecessary work. Although the previous rust repairs were plated and not bogged they are not good enough to achieve a file finish so will have to be redone. Surprisingly there's no rust around the rear window and very little around the front window. Adzmax Posted March 7, 2013 Share #131 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) You're pretty lucky by the looks of it! Seems like a really clean car, I'm jelly! Seems most good blasters use a mix of mediums. What did the blasting and etch prime (I assume it was primed?) cost if you don't mind me asking?
